WASHINGTON, (AP) -- Malia and Sasha Obama learned a few tricks from Barbara and Jenna Bush on their recent visit to the White House — like how to slide down the solarium ramp, bottom first.

The daughters of President George W. Bush showed the girls their bedrooms, helped them jump on a bed and taught them a few ways to have fun, Laura Bush told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Wednesday.

"It was fun for the girls to get to show them not only (their rooms), but the way the big cross hall can be an obstacle course for little kids to run up and down, and the solarium ramp that you can slide down on your bottom. So they showed them all the special tricks," she said.

The twins also "aided and abetted" the Obama girls' running jump onto a tall bed.

"We usually put a step out for people to step into when they stay in that room. But instead the little girls did the running jump, and Barbara and Jenna of course aided and abetted

Only if it’s a good jab. Nothing about this story presents presents an opportunity but if the girls are anything like their parents it will only be a matter of time.

“How about just common decency?”

That would be the naive way of looking at it. It's for public consumption.

Just at the point where they are still fun to have around and just before the adults ruin them.

Maybe they'll grow up to be Republicans just to spite their parents.

...but what in the heck is wrong with 2 girls showing 2 younger girls a few ways to have fun?

Especially in the most exclusive playground in the USA.

I agree with you.

I’m with you. For the little girls, coming into the White House, I’m sure there is a strong tendency to behave as if they are walking into a museum, not into their new home. It sounds like the twins were simply showing them that it’s home, you can relax, you can play.

Not sure about the jumping on the beds though. That’s government property, right’chair. Do they get to jump on the beds in their own home?

My understanding is that the Bush women—Barbara Sr., Laura—are not “that” pro-life. I could be wrong, that could have changed, but that has been my understanding.

It was nice of the twins to humor the Obama girls and show them the ins and outs of the White House.

The Obama girls will have fun growing up in the White House.

Too bad Chelsea did not do the same for the twins or at least hook them up with some good fake ID’s.

"As much as I hate to say it, it is nice that the Bush daughters did this for the Obama kids."

Why, why do you hate to say our First Family is nice? I'm an unabashedly proud American that has traveled worldwide and I love hearing stories like this that reinforce the image Americans hold precious. This is who we are as a people. Please don't apologize for traits Americans fought and died to defend. The Bush girls actions epitomize America. This is who we are.

Obviously Malia, the ten year old, is fair game. You willing to go after Sasha (she's eight) too?

Oh, yeah ...yes, "red velvet" ... and lets not forget those heap painting on velvet. They used to sell them on the side of the road. Car fumes were an extra ambiance to take home.

You might want to consider setting your own standards rather than taking your cue from the worst examples.
