Agriprocessors former CEO pleads not guilty to 12 charges

Agriprocessors' former CEO Sholom Rubashkin pleaded not guilty today in U.S. District Court to 12-counts involving illegal immigrants, identity theft and bank fraud.

Rubashkin, 49, of Postville, was charged with two additional charges in this second superseding indictment of harboring undocumented aliens for profit and conspiracy to commit document fraud. He was previously charged with conspiracy to harbor undocumented aliens for profit, aiding and abetting document fraud, six counts of aiding and abetting aggravated identity theft and two counts of bank fraud.

-Operations manager Brent Beebe, 51, and poultry managers Hosam Amara, 44, and Zeev Levi, all of Postville, are each charged with conspiracy to harbor undocumented aliens for profit, harboring undocumented aliens for profit, conspiracy to commit document fraud and aiding and abetting document fraud.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bob Teig said Wednesday authorities are still looking for Amara and Levi and Immigration and Customs Enforcement ask for the public's assistance in their apprehension.

The Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division expressed doubt Tuesday that it could provide assistance following the Postville City Council’s declaration of the town as a humanitarian and economic disaster area.

Disaster declarations are based on natural emergencies, “so I don’t know how that would qualify,” said division spokesman Bret Voorhees.

The resolution, passed unanimously by the council Monday night, was sent to state officials Tuesday in an effort to secure financial assistance for the community devastated after a May 12 federal immigration raid that led to the recent closing of town’s leading employer, kosher meatpacker Agriprocessors Inc.

I guess they could not pay Americans a dollar more and hour. One slaghterhouse in the midwest had a raid and the next day thousands of Americans showed for work.

I think this place was kosher in which kosher like Islamic halil lets the animals suffer as they bleed to death. Why do liberal Jews like the 78% who voted for O even bother when most are secular and worship liberalism? This is not anti-semitism but what many Jews have told me as well as people like Savage.

Jews in Israel wanted McCain 3 to 1 because they have a few concerns like survival. I also have issues with the 50% + fake catholics who voted for O.

There is sort of a problem here.. what do you do if all of your competitors use illegals? Do you go out of business? Or do you hire illegals? The point is, I want the illegals out, but until there is a serious effort to stop them at the border, I’m not sure I believe in prosecuting everyone who hires them. Once they are largely stopped at the border.. sure, prosecute anyone who hires them. Right now though the situation is like dangling candy over a little kid and then spanking them when they take it.

the company trucks and tractor-trailers were repossessed over the weekend

if this company would not have been breaking the law there would have been no raid. Most of the employees and even the town knew this company was breaking not only immigration laws but many other laws.
