CHICAGO (AP) - Barack Obama and his wife say they wanted to show their young daughters the meaning of the Thanksgiving holiday, especially at a time when so many are struggling.
They took 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha to a food bank today, where the girls joined their parents in shaking hands and giving holiday wishes to hundreds of people who'd been lined up for hours.
The family handed out wrapped chickens to the people waiting in the chilly outdoor courtyard on Chicago's south side.
The president-elect told, telling people to call him "Barack," said he wanted his girls to "learn the importance of how fortunate they are, and to make sure they're giving back."

I hope that he did not disrupt the goings on at the food bank. I know how worried he was about disrupting church services.

Of course, just a few short years ago, before he ran for the U.S. Senate, Obama gave almost nothing of his own to charity. Then again, he didn’t have the cameras on him then.

You notice the article doesn’t say he paid for the food? You and I know he was just there for the photo opp., and had NOTHING to do with the charity at all.
Appropriate for BHO - teaching his kids to give away things that aren't theirs. I've read his charitable giving history, and he's not supporting these food banks with his own money. He just wants to feel good for giving away things that came from someone else.
Gee, just think how much food those private jet trips and Sidwell Friends tuition X 2 would buy?
Nothing in the story indicates that the Obama's gave any money to the charity.
They were just there for the photo op, not to actually help provide the food.
The people were probably forced to wait in the line until he and the First President Eject Lady got there with their cute little kids.
I guess he’s just getting the subjects used to the way things will be from now on under his economic plan.

Hey, Zero? I hand out food, paint Habitat homes, started a charity where, every year, we raise $$$ at Christmas for the needy in our community to pay for heating. It’s not just for political expediency and not ‘just for Christmas’, you know. It’s YEAR ROUND.

I don't know who the woman or man is blowing Obama in that picture is, but knowing Obama as we do, could be he places and dummy in clothes there for a photo op.
Exactly. Just how is it "giving back," and teaching your daughters how "fortunate they are," if you just show up and hand out food that SOMEONE ELSE donated or paid for? But then, that is how the socialist thinks, ... take something that someone else provided, and give it to someone else, and take credit for it.

LOL!! They probably had dinner with Oprah. Handing out the chicken sounds like something Oprah told them to do. Great photo op, makes them feel good about themselves, people get free chicken. Everybody wins.....
I am just wondering if the reporter heard Obambi right when he was answering a question and he actually said ... “hey give me a break we are just do’in the down home thing for the cameras ... hey I’ll call you Back!
