Gee, severe psychological problems that lead to drug and alcohol abuse after destroying a growing human life? Who knew! Isn’t it just supposed to be a simple “choice”?
It seems intuitively obvious that such an action would lead to frequent troubles. To intentionally end the life of a person inside you, who is a physical as well as a deeply emotional part of you, and to have that 'not' have severe consequences would, I think, be the exception for most.
