The core of Obama’s popularity and his political success is completely centered on who he is, not what he’s done or will do. Because of who he is, whatever he does will be cheered by his minions, not the least of whom are the national media, as brilliant; what he does is right by definition. Listen to his supporters and it’s clear they know not what he has accomplished nor what he intends to. And the most frightening aspect of this phenomenon is that, when their ignorance is pointed out, they not only don’t care, but are angered by the insinuation. This is a manifestation of the mentality that glorifies actors and rock stars, where an individuals goodness and value is defined by how he makes us feel; to hell with their intellect or character. George Orwell’s masterpiece should be renamed ‘2008’ and be required reading in all of our schools. Barack Obama is no more than an aspiration that exists in the minds of spoiled, overfed, lazy proles, and their adoration will win earn nothing but chains.
