A great recitation of the way things are in Judaism, and in common sense. G-d isn't going to miracle your arse to safety if you just sit on the couch praying, you have to do all that is humanly possible with the tools G-d gave you, and once you've done that then G-d may, if it suits Him and His purposes, grant you a miracle of some sort. It worked that way with the parting of the Sea of Reeds - Nachson had to wade in up to his neck before the Sea parted...DeMille didn't have it right.
Anyhow, your statement is the reason why I carry a .45 to synogogue. I just don't think that G-d is going to miracle a 230 grain hunk of hollow-pointed, copper-jacketed lead into the COM of some cretinous terrorist at 850 FPS or so...at least not on my first attempt at prayer in that situation.
