OTTAWA -- Carleton University students will continue to raise money for cystic fibrosis research after student councillors held an emergency meeting Monday night and reversed a controversial motion that passed last week.
The Carleton University Students' Association voted almost unanimously last week to drop a cystic fibrosis charity as the beneficiary of its annual Shinerama fundraiser, supporting a motion that argued the disease was not "inclusive" enough.

A “flickering light of sanity in a dark world” kind of story.
The disease was not “inclusive” enough? ... Just WTH does that mean?................
Those kids aren’t too bright. Make sure that they pursue studies that they are capable of passing - like political “science” and sociology.
Apparently it only effect white males.
I was thinking that maybe it’s because it’s a genetic disease that you are born with and not as a result of bad immoral behavior..........
Can't raise money that will help white people, now can we? Wouldn't be inclusive.
Of course AIDS in this country affects primarily white men, but then they are almost all gay, which apparently changes race.
It’s truly sick that they dropped cystic fibrosis in the first place. I guess we should ask these libs if we ought to stop fundraising for prostate cancer since it only affects men, but would we also be willing to stop fundraising for breast cancer since it generally only affects women?
HALLELULAH!!
It meant that it affected white males more than any other demographic and that was unacceptable to nutjobs.
That cannot be true................
The idea that “they” thought this a good idea and progressive shows how PC/socialism/liberalism is truly a sickness.
Then It’s a wonder that they don’t drop Tay-Sachs Disease.......
Gays are a protected group, regardless of race. White men are not. It’s racist, sexist discrimination, but it’s still open to exceptions. Cystic fibrosis affects girls just as badly as it affects boys (it’s autosomal, not sex-linked), so the sexist part is based on a complete myth. That leaves racism, and since HIV is rampant in Africa as well as the gay community, it’s an acceptable disease to fundraise for.
“Then Its a wonder that they dont drop Tay-Sachs Disease.......”
Or Cooley’s Anemia, Sickle Cell Anemia and scores of other diseases that certain ethic groups get.
I hate all the “white male bashing” commercials on the air nowadays. If any of those commercials were to depict black males or women in those situations there would be a horrendous outcry. One of these days, the “white male” is going to “strike back”, then there’ll be hell to pay.............
I am glad the fundraising will continue. What I cannot understand is the fact that these students at Carlton are considered so intelligent. Yet, these same students have such a limited view of the world. I have known plenty of young women affected by the disease as well as boys, unless you consider boys to be men? These students are studying to do what? Our colleges and universities are filled with young people who simply do not have a clue about anything that really matters. We need to speak truth loudly and often.
Really? I wonder when. What will it take to get them to stop watching the TV shows, and patronizing the advertisers? What will it take for them to get their sons out of emasculating incarceration in government "schools"? When will they start taking their children to church, reading the Bible to them, getting them out in the woods or the workshop and teaching them some skills and respect?
Crickets ...
I agree! My 16 year old son is a white male. Am I to stand with this bashing garbage against my own son. I am proud of him. I will not teach him that he is some kind of second class citizen based upon his skin color or race or family history. He matters! He is a kind young man, he cares about other people, he loves God and he is not a freak that requires some sort of exception to be acceptable. Enough with this insanity. Will we decide that white males are of no use to us in the future? I will not be quiet.
