Actually, there is a lot of truth to this. In pre-air conditioning times, a lot of indoor activities were avoided because large groups of people just smelled horrible.
For the supposed party of the ‘working man’, they sure do forget that working people sweat.
I guess it’s hard for him to remember that he works for us, and that we the people are not mere peasants. Shoot, why didn’t they install showers and bathtubs? And while they were at it, have little bottles of deoderant for the masses.
