Scholar: Congressional exhibits too liberal

Matthew Spalding, Director of the Center for American Studies at the Heritage Foundation, says the visitor center selectively cuts passages from the Constitution, weighing in on a long-running debate about the scope and limits of federal power by taking the liberal side of that debate, envisioning broad congressional powers that the founding fathers never intended.

"I started looking at this stuff and it's just patently absurd," he said. "The dominant message when you walk though the doors in this exhibit you're hit with is the role of Congress is to fulfill our greatest aspirations. So the message you're teaching these millions of visitors each year is the Constitution really isn't what we thought it was, it's the open-ended thing that's up to Congress to decide what it means."

The top leaders from each party in the House and Senate are expected to host an opening ceremony Tuesday morning for the new center.

It figures.... during a period of years in which the Rs controlled the House and Presidency, and enjoyed a very strong position in the Senate, they managed to allow the Demagogues to spend $700 million on a US Capitol project that will now enshrine liberal interpretations of all aspects of the US Constitution as dominant, for all time.

It will never be possible to change these bogus exhibits because the Mediascum and the Demagogues would raise a gigantic fuss about how any future Rs are trying to "politicize" displays that have already been heavily politicized.

Every time I think I've seen the ultimate stoooopidity from the Republicans, they find new ways to surprise me.

I blame the Republicans more than the Democrats — the left was just doing what they always, so predictably, do.... but it was the Republicans/RINOs who failed to put intelligent controls and oversight into this project. What a pant-load of Pelosi!!!

At least Harry Reid no longer has to smell the public (a reason he gave for his pleasure in the new Capitol visitors’ center, no joke!!). However, WE still have to smell the putrid stench of ‘Rats and RINOs trashing our history and govenrnment.
