What a great idea. 4 million unruly drunks on a four day bender. What could possibly go wrong here?

Bars here can stay open until 3 am anyway, so it's not a huge change. And most of the people coming for the inaugaration are making a day-trip out of it. There simply aren't enough hotel rooms in the DC area to hold them all.

Yes, most likely it will be cold. Good point.

I guess I am jaded, I went to a couple of inaugurations, but it was never pleasant, just more of a hassle.

I cannot imagine what this one will be like, and I sure as Hell am not going to find out.

I bet it will be fun to watch on TV. The police are usually really anal at these events. That doesn’t mix well with some of the out-of-town crowd. They are used to being able to bumrush to the front of the line to get a picture. If people start rushing towards The One while he is in the motorcade, it will get ugly.

Is it safe to have drunks on the road at 2AM? The bars are open all day. Is it safe to have drunks on the road at 12 noon? Your logic doesn’t hold.

Logic? It was sarcasm. I’ll try to use the /s tag more often.

*Actually I’m surprised that there aren’t restaurants open 24 hours in DC... that they are not allowed by law to serve food at 5 am?*

I went to a ballgame at RFK a few years back. DC law stated that the vendors had to close down at 9 or 10. The game started at 7 and promptly was delayed by a massive electrical storm. It rained for the next couple of hours. By the time the game restarted, the vendors had all closed—you couldn’t even get a bottle of water.

These are the geniuses running our nation’s capital.

I don’t know, but I guarantee they wouldn’t for a Republican president, black or female.
