Hire a briefing book builder and read his/her material daily; subscribe to a clipping and search service; check the daily schedule on the Hill; keep meticulous records of your achievements - perhaps the book deal will assist with this task; travel more; and read at least 1 non-fiction book/week. Beyond that, your political instincts are just fine and your personal style/brand is perfect.

Most of all she needs to work very very hard on becoming so expert on myriad issues that no one can fairly demean her again (OK, I know the Mediascum will do so anyway). But, seriously, conservative candidates have to step up their game several notches b/c the Mediascum will always be unfair and will always try to exploit any gaffes, etc. If there isn’t a gaffe the Mediascum will make some up, when they’re dealing with the Rs.
Annie, I agree with your points except the one about accents. Are our presidential candidates not allowed to have accents? (Well, I do think of LBJ and shudder).
