The Mainichi answers common questions readers may have on skepticism over global warming.
Q: I heard this winter is going to be a little warmer than usual; does global warming have anything to do with it?
A: The climate goes through annual fluctuations, and a given year being warmer than another isn't necessarily the result of global warming. The United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has announced that the global temperature has risen 0.74 degrees over the past century, but the chance of that rise being caused mainly by human-produced greenhouse gases during the second half of the 20th century is said to be high.
Q: I see. But there are lots of books out calling global warming a myth.
A: Various claims that global warming doesn't exist in the first place; is caused by solar activity and cosmic rays rather than carbon dioxide; or that carbon dioxide emissions are increasing naturally, rather than by human intervention, are being made -- as well as that certain countries or industries are profiting by stressing the damage caused by global warming.
Q: Are those books selling well?

See you in the spring!!
A reasonably written piece. More balanced than what you would ever see in the MSM, where any skeptic is a flying lunatic who is in the pocket of big oil.
Nothing, because so far it hasn't been. It's been pretty dang cold sine the first week of Nov and we've had snow on the ground constantly.
Dontcha just love how the global warming folks always seem to get mileage for their hysteria over global warming by focusing on what's SUPPOSED to be happening, not what HAS happened?
It snowed in Georgia on December 1st.
Global warming my ass - it doesn’t snow in Georgia in early December.
Let's see if CO2 levels drop in the near term, and then I'll begin to listen to this anthropogenic global climate change crap.
Don't forget the Ark of the Covenant!
Q: So on what are the anti-global warming policies based upon?
A: Debates held in Poland from Monday are based on an IPCC report, which outlines several potential scenarios derived from the work of 4,000 or so scientists from around the world and all the available scientific data. Global warming skeptics are yet to carry out any research on this kind of scale.
There are many unexplained areas of climate science, but one thing that is for sure is that all countries are going to have to agree on and carry out any damage limitation measures based on the most probable scenario. (Answers by Junko Adachi, Science and Environment Writer)
Also, earlier, he only grazingly implied that AGW extremists are also making ALL of their money by hyping the potential problem, but decided not to really say anything.
Like all the countries of the world coming together in harmony to help remove Saddam from Iraq? When has this "for sure" cooperation ever happened once in the history of mankind?
GorBull Warming? We are freezing to death in Michigan and the ski resorts are already open.
And I’ve always wondered where all the teeth the Tooth Fairy collects wind up. BTW, have we heard from the herd?
Could someone please wake me when that happens

II moved to Rochester, NY on Jan. 4, 1971. The highway patrol made us leave the freeway at the exit we wanted to get off anyway. The reason,... a huge blizzard. Ended up with 24” snow and stranded in the Holiday Inn for 4 days.
There were cars/trucks scattered all over the parking lot. I was to start my new job the next day but was locked in the motel for that 4 days.
What an initiation. Sounds as though you are returning to “the ‘good’ old days”!
Where does one 'hear' that 'fact'? My Old Farmers Almanac is predicting a cold winter.
