That's what the overlapping boards of directors is all about.
It's like a country club at that level.
They trade around and generally keep things tight together controlling each and every company that way.
Very little input outside that small circle of out of touch, head in the expensive golden sand catbirds.

“really good synthetic tape”
I don’t know if it would work on cars because of the vibration, but have you met a product I get at Home Depot called Quick-Roof (probably not spelled that way)?. It is 7 thin layers of aluminum separated by very thin layers of a black tar-like substance. You peel off the slick paper and press it on a clean smooth surface. I have used it on metal roofs and flashing and it is still good after 10 years. It works best on a warm to hot day, and I smooth it down firmly with a rounded object.

The Free Market will fuel innovation, not proclamations from idiot Politicians without Engineering Degrees or Business Experience. I prefer to be Governed, not Ruled.
Neither do I -- however, you have folsk who say oops, now oil is down to $40 a barrel, lets splurge and buy more, instead of thinking -- this is the best time to build up our reserves, turn to other fuels (like American coal and natural gas and ethanol -- all of which America has in plenty), so that we can turn off the tap on Middle-Eastern oil, ruin their economies and cut off the Saudi,Kuwaiti,Omani,Sudanese etc. funding of global jihad.

Thanks to OBD II this can in fact be detected and protected against.
If I remember my one time rental of a Prius there is a battery status monitoring panel on the machine which warns you if your batteries are nearing the end of their life cycle or if they've inadvertently bought the farm.

Yes, and now with the Feds they won't need interlocking directors because everything will come from the Central Committee in Washington, D.C. or Chicago. Where ever it chooses to meet.
J. Edgar Hoover wrote in The Masters of Deceit that when the commies took over they'd move the nation's capital from DC to Chicago. I guess the old G man was right!
