Faith because that's what it takes to believe that these same people would really be capable of telling the same lie, time and again, with no lapses, no leaks, no betrayals, no slip-ups. People just aren't that competent at keeping their stories straight, which is one reason America's prisons are so full.

First of all Colin is a number one jerk. He should be writing for the Enquirer, he's not a journalist.

Second . . . People [including Barry Obama] just aren't that competent at keeping their stories straight [especially Barry Obama] . . . Barry can't recall what he said about a subject from day to day. "I didn't say that" when it's all over YouTube that he DID say it. He can't recall where he was born, his half-sister can't recall where he was born, his black grandmother remembers where he was born but no one believes her.

Those who question are they who are sane. Those who accept all the mis-speak and denials when YouTube is full of evidence to the contrary are the ones who are insane.

While Palin's claims to be a political maverick may be debatable, the way she handled her pregnancy with Trig was, indeed, iconoclastic. She kept the pregnancy secret for a long time. She traveled to Texas while eight months pregnant. She completed a speech after her water broke and then, after consulting with her doctor, flew back to Alaska to give birth in a small regional hospital. Within a few days, Palin was back at work.

That behavior may strike many as odd. But it offers no proof that Palin fabricated the pregnancy.

These last two smeary paragraphs are infuriating. I just want to take Colin by the nape of the neck and shake some sense into him. But it would probably immediately fall out.

Hmm, interesting. I’ve been in Ohio for the past few years so only get to observe IL politics when I go back to visit a few times a year. Jerk, unquestionably. However, he is a journalist, in the fullest contemporary sense of the word: someone whose personal idea of Why -- namely, "Because I want to change the world" -- trumps Who, What, Where, and When.

After losing a couple of high-profile libel suits a few years back, the Enquirer pulled its socks up and tightened its practices. Today, McMahon couldn't get hired there as a copy boy, because (as John and Rielle will gladly confirm) the people writing for it now are actual investigative reporters, whose gumshoes McMahon isn't fit to scrub.
