Were it not for tax payers money NPR would be gone the way of Air America. I can’t believe any significant numbers of people actually listen to NPR.
How tragic that it’s only 7 percent.
I noticed that too and did the math. They expect to save an average of $359,375 per person laid off for the remainder of this fiscal year, however much of the year they have left.
Due to staff reductions, “All Things Considered” will now be known as “Some Things Considered”
The reason that I never donate to NPR is that whenever the local stations start doing moderately well the first thing they do is cut out classical music and replace it with another left-wing talk show.
RACISM!!!!1!1!11one
I am not sorry. About 15 years ago, I used to listen to NPR every day after work. I got so disgusted with their bias thta I quit listening. They are putting themselves out of business.
A local NPR announcer once was reporting sports...after his report he reminded his listeners that following local news stay tuned for...All Things Conceited.
He was fired.
“....and the newsmaker-interview program “News & Notes,” which NPR hoped would attract African Americans.”
Maybe they ought to play some cRap music.
Whoo-hoo! Yay!
Sorry, but I can't even picture BHO listening to NPR. And I say that as a compliment to the man.
Tax-subsidized, traitorous, illiberal, smug, no-fun, no-energy, suck-the-life-out-of-the-room, semi-COMMIE radio has to cut back?
Oh, no! No, no, nooooooooooooooo! ;-)
Car-Talk was mostly Click-and-Clack, I used to get updates from an automotive newsletter outside Baltimore where we could pick up NPR and document all the bad advice they gave.
Typical libs, can’t find their butt with both hands.
So, he was fired for being honest...
They are 93 percent short in their layoff goals.
Car Talk is the only show on NPR worth taking time to listen to. The only one that doesn’t spew liberal bias, those guys are actually pretty entertaining.
Several years ago the local NPR affiliate had a show on Saturday night called Lone Star Saturday night. The DJ played only music from Texas bands, with the occasional Lucinda Williams (Louisiana) thrown in. It was pretty good, but got replaced by Selected Shorts. I had to give them up at that point.
Probably on a college station, down at the lower end of the dial.
If you live where there are a lot of colleges, some college stations are for the students, some have been taken over by NPR programming, and some provide folk or jazz or classical for non-college audiences.
Sometimes the students are pretty ticked off about that, not being able to get airtime on their own college radio stations ...
Yes. And sadly they still get massive governmental funding do they not? My guess is Rush Limbaugh is having nothing but a Rush in ratings during this time. He isn’t a welfare radio program. See ya NPR.
LOL. :-D. Too bad he was fired.
Gee whiz. If they produced shows that were of interest to ALL Americans, instead of the elitist, leftist, anti-American crap they currently provide, maybe they wouldn't be facing budget cuts.
