The story that put the lie to the No-O & Blogo Meeting was found yesterday and disappeared down the memory hole at News : KHQA.
KHQA then denies knowledge that such the meeting actually took place.
“The story housed in our website archive was on the morning of November 5, 2008. It suggested that a meeting was scheduled later that day between President Elect Obama and Illinois Governor Blagojevich. KHQA has no knowledge that any meeting ever took place. Governor Blagojevich did appear at a news conference in Chicago on that date.”

This is beyond outrageous. This is something that simply should not happen in a free society.
I am beginning to question whether we will have one much longer.
Perhaps Carol Sowers can get interviewed.
First by fifty people in the proported “media”, then by the FBI.

Fox reported that “no direct conversations took place between O and Blago.” So, let’s see, what would an “indirect conversation” be??

I think our free press is a thing of the past. They’re all lined up with the anointed one.
I’m wondering if the “news” which is printed is even real or not?
Suppose they are making stuff up routinely and we are assuming that what the media reports is taking place — when in reality, not much is really happening.
Another screen shot of a different later article from the same source uses the past tense verb “met”.
They did meet. This source reported they “met.”
1) Fox could be wrong or 2) this reporter could be wrong and no communication took place or 3) Blago made Zero’s people an offer to take back to their boss.
Good catch.. um er.. cache even.
I’m sure Rush Limbaugh, if he addresses this, won’t miss the point either. “If this was incorrect, what other stories are made up?”
There must be something pretty danming to cover up when the press throws ITSELF under the bus to protect Obama!

Duckworth comments on consideration for Senate

QUINCY, IL — Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.
Obama met with Governor Rod Blagojevich earlier this week to discuss it. Illinois law states that the governor chooses that replacement. There’s already been speculation about his selection...from Congressman Jesse Jackson, Junior to Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth.
Duckworth made an appearance in Saturday’s Veterans’ parade in Quincy. We asked her about the possibility of filling Obama’s seat.
“The Governor’s office confirmed yesterday that he is considering me and I am deeply honored jus to be considered. I hope whoever is selected is someone who is willing to travel around the state and gets to know this wonderful state. I’m just honored to be considered,” Duckworth said.
The governor expects to make his decision before Christmas. Part of the timing depends on when Obama officially vacates his senate seat.

Rewriting history. How Orwellian.
I don’t have personal knowledge of whether they actually met or not. The article I posted indicates that the meeting was supposed to take place the afternoon the story was published. If you’ve got evidence the meeting actually took place, lets have the link, eh?
The problem is that there is no source and within the bounds of reason to assume she just made it up to make a good story.
It is reasonable to assume it is not true when there is no confirmation elsewhere.
Moreover the popular fascination with politics, and the political press are both, as I recollect, American innovations.
It's not for nothing that First Amendment, as is the rest of that Bill of Rights. The Founders and the public then at the founding wanted to protect certain distinctly American innovations in civil society.
Not particular presses, nor religions, but to ensure access by all citizens to the press, to religions and religious practices, to all the arms of a military and navy, to jury trials, etc. A level of un-infringed liberty in access to all of those, founded on a special brotherhood of trust in fellow Americans -- that was the uniqueness.
But that NEVER meant a "free press" in the sense you lament. The press all always been highly biased, and always forms alliances with power.
What are the odds bookmark for later.
It is possible she made that up, in which case she should be fired. It is also true that the press has covered up an inconvenient story, inconvenient for Zero, that is. This story doesn’t say they met, but since what it does say doesn’t support the party line, the loyal minions are making it disappear.

Organizer/lobbyist on education funding.
It was clear from the start of his campaign how rotten Blago was from that beginning. The huge campaign contributions were monstrous, the aides he imported from New York (in prep for a White Hosue bid) were as arrogant as he was, & treated everyone else like they were dogs to do their bidding.
His slimy corruption was evident to anyone from day one. Even his aides down in the depts. were demanding campaign contributions and even sexual favors in return for grants. (they weren't the only ones, the current Majority WHip & chair of the state Appropriations committees is notorious for his demands from women involved with non-profits)
I'm sure lots of people make deals with the devil they think they can handle, but anyone who didn't know what a piece of shit this faux-Kennedy imitator, faux-Elvis impersonator, was simply fooling themsleves.
Of course, denial is more important than water, food, or sex -- we can all live a day w/o those, but few of us (including me) can go a day w/o practicing some form of denial. ~~~~~
If Obama and Blago met, they didn’t do it sneaking out to some clandestine site. Staff members or clerical workers would recall seeing them together. It was a big day - the day after Obama was elected. People would notice.
It also is likely that the governor’s office has surveillance cameras.
Half and Half was in chicago to celebrate his winning on the night of the fourth behind the barricade, it would be only natural for him to meet the governor the next day, and now he is covering his illegal burro

This is a good example why a non-commercial, political speech site should be able to grab and post full excerpts of any online news article - its Orwellian to see news “disappear” after its done its damage or before it can do its damage - I know you fought against the copyright claims but if FReeRepublic is not a fair use then nothing is. Sigh.
If we don’t like the free press, we can just create our own. The old school press is going broke. Nobody buys their lies any more.
