Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin topped President-elect Barack Obama in Google Inc.'s annual ranking of its fastest-rising global search terms for 2008 released on Wednesday.
The company (Nasdaq: GOOG) said its annual study of the billions of search queries that people type into its search engine "gives us a glimpse into the zeitgeist the spirit of the times."
Alaska Gov. Palin ranked No. 1, while Obama finished at No. 6.
The top search terms, in order, were: Palin, Beijing 2008, Facebook login, social networking site Tuenti, dead actor Heath Ledger, Obama, Polish social networking site klasa, German social networking site Kentt Wen, Euro 2008 and the singing Jonas Brothers.
I think I’ll go do a Palin search!
What does “fastest rising global search terms for 2008” mean?
Is it the most overall searches or the largest increase over 2007?
Me, too.
What is Tuenti?
Quite a set up line you threw out there.
When someone breaks this news to BO, his face will start to twitch and he will go in the Bubba Klingtong BJ washroom for a smoke.
I don’t know how they calculate it but I’d think they must take the overall number of searches into account because some very very minor search terms/names could achieve humungous percentage increases but still be quite obscure.
Yet, it they only took the arithmetical difference between this year and last year into account then one of the most famous people in the world might “win” despite having only a small % increase, from 100 million to 110 million or whatever. So they probably have some formula that takes both into account.....
She’s bigger than the Olympics now! :)
Every time I see someone express deranged hatred of her, I'm tempted to ask, "how many abortions did you have?" Because I really think Charles Krauthhammer was right about abortion having something to do with this crazy level of hatred.
Let the loony goons know that Sarah will beat Obama in 2012.
I don't want Todd to punch me out.
Obama is like so...
last month.
Hmmmm, Obama right after a dead actor. Apropos
Can I get a “w00t!”, y’all?
Many of those searches would have been mine, folks.
Thank you. (LC taking a bow) Thank you.
Obama has always been super boring.
Sarah for President in 2012
