“Blagojevich Meets with Obama to Address Budget Shortfall

WMBD/WYZZ - SPRINGFIELD Governor Rod Blagojevich is turning to the president elect for help in a billion dollar budget shortfall.
The governor will meet Monday and Tuesday Philadelphia with Barack Obama. Their discussion will focus on Illinois’ $2 billion deficit and how the Land of Lincoln will manage its 2009 fiscal year.
In November, Blagojevich announced a plan to manage the state’s deficit. Part of that plan requests more than $1 billion dollars in federal money over the next three years, in addition to short-term borrowing to help pay bills on time. Illinois is currently facing a potential $5 billion backlog of unpaid bills.”
I’m calling Jeremy Sisto (white cop on Law and Order)to play the Gov in the movie.

SPRINGFIELD — Just days after shuttering several state parks and historic sites and asking for understanding from Illinoisans amid bleak economic times, Gov. Rod Blagojevich took his taxpayer-provided aircraft to Philadelphia to tell fellow Chicagoan Barack Obama how bad things are in the state they both live in.
Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero defended the trip and use of the state plane, noting that if the governor hadn’t gone, he’d surely have faced media criticism for his absence.
“This was a historic meeting that was attended by virtually every governor in the United States, and our being there could help bring billions of dollars to Illinois,” Guerrero said Wednesday in an e-mail responding to Daily Herald questions.
Obama met Tuesday with members of the National Governors Association to discuss how the federal government can bail out states struggling to balance budgets .
“And, had we not gone out, I am sure you would question us on why we failed to go out and meet with the other governors and the president-elect,” Guerrero added.
Blagojevich , and other governors, flew into Philadelphia to tell tales of economic woe on the same day executives from the Big Three automakers drove to Washington, D.C., to plead for economic assistance. The executives faced harsh criticism for taking personal jets to a previous Capitol Hill hearing.
Obama represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate and before that served in the Illinois Senate. He and Blagojevich both reside in Chicago with about 15 miles separating their households.
But Guerrero said the governor’s two-day Philadelphia trip was an important opportunity to discuss urgent budget issues with Obama and the other governors.

I guess the journalist “misspoke”.
What I find interesting is that people think that Blago’s statement exonerates Odumbo. Pay attention to what Blago says; he stated that, I paraphrase, “all he is going to give me in return is appreciation”. Blago was expecting repayment for *something* otherwise there would not be an expectation of repayment. Blago did something for The One and The One snubbed him.

I think it’s important because it corroborates other reports, which are now being discredited.

Let's see, Obammy made another urgent meeting with his dying grandmother at the same time his birth certificate was sealed by the gov of HI. Then the grandmother died.
Obammy's little meetings are a little too transparent. My guess is Obammy is going to give Blago the riot act about what he is permitted to say. IL deficit my arse!!
He has destroyed many of his own friends to get into the White House.
His friends, supporters, advisors, confidants and even his own grandmother are absolutely worthless to him if they get between him and absolute power.

How many are going down with Blago? Unfortunately, probably none of the Daley clan will be touched. The Rezko mess will take down some that the Blago mess didn't.
I have family in southern Illinois and they have always been appalled at the Chicago political machine and felt powerless to do anything to stop it. Also have family in NJ in the same boat, LOL.
