Yep, I speculated the same. It may be the opportunity for him to finally be rid of the Clintons. But why did he hire a Clinton insider to do the vetting?
Not sure whom you are referring to. The FBI and/or some group based (or it used to be based) in Ohio does these background investigations. The report(s) they produce are distributed to, or at least made available to, the Senators. There would be no Obama appointees involved.
(And interestingly, I think the reason why there are few or no appointees who are Obama acolytes is that they would have difficulty getting security clearances.)

If you care about our Constitution you will listen to the video at the link below. It is a 90 minute video and the only video you will see of this conference where the Constitutional qualification issue was discussed. It is important to listen to the ENTIRE video, even if you feel like quitting before it is finished. It is important to hear the questions from the Media following the speakers.

But didn’t Eric Holder represent Rich in the pardon negotiations? This is getting very interesting.
Holder was up to his eyeballs in the Rich pardon.

The adviser said the examination was being overseen by the Obama team’s personnel counsel, Christine A. Varney, a former Clinton White House aide who is now on leave from Hogan & Hartson.
It’s rich that he has democrats investigating his shady deals. The dems truly have more steel in their spines than weeny Republicans. This is good because no one can say it’s a “partisan witch hunt” Maybe the Clinton’s chickens are finally coming home to roost after all these years. Obama should take note.

I just spoke with an assistant to Arlen Specter from the Senate Judiciary Committee. She now has this info about the 250 mil.
