Chris Matthews invited Bill Ayers on Wednesday night's "Hardball," and actually confronted him about his bombing of Capitol Hill during his days as a member of the '60s terrorist group Weather Underground, as the former Capitol Hill police officer emotionally observed: "I was a Capitol policeman at the time, so I was one of the guys that could have been killed obviously at the time you put that, your guys put that bomb in there. So I have a little personal interest. It wasn't just vandalism. To me it was life-threatening to the guys I worked with. And there were some pretty good guys working there."
However Matthews, who paradoxically may not even be alive to conduct this interview today if the Weather Underground's bombs were more devastating, devoted most of the interview tossing softballs Ayers' way, as the two often agreed with each other on Barack Obama and Iraq policy as the "Hardball" host pointed out they only really differed on how to spread their points of view: "Well, Mr. Ayers, with all due respect, you agitate your way, I agitate my way."
Matthews, who back in October dismissed Sarah Palin's mention of Ayers, as "the politics of distraction," began the interview by setting up Ayers to play down any association he had with Obama:

Matthews doesn’t have the balls to face down a man who would have anonymously killed him in cold blood in his youth. True girlieman liberal. What’s happened to males like him? God help America.
Everything Matthews does now and has been doing is all about his running for the senate in PA.
He knows the constituency there has no problem with Obama’s dirty connections or Ayers bombings.
This was back-slapping ass-kissing display of camaraderie between two hardline leftists.
I almost threw up while watching it.

Nothing is too great to sacrifice for the socialist utopia (even your life). I woudn’t touch this guy with ten-foot pole if I were Matthews, but apparently the fact that this guy was willing to KILL you (as in attemped murder,..remember the old days when this was a ‘Crime’), it’s unfathomable!!
If liberals are going to make apologies for unrepentant Marxist terrorists, they should be just as culpable as the terrorists. After all, Matthews didn’t have to do this. He’s doing all he can for the “rehabilitation” of Ayers.
I watched a couple of minutes of this. Ayers was so arrogant and dishonest that even Sissy Chrissie got miffed. Ayers referred to his terrorist bombings as “vandalism”, and claimed nobody was hurt, except his three “comrades” who blew themselves up making bombs. Ayers was an even more effeminate snot-nosed sissy than Matthews. Just looking at him made me mad.
Matthews was a policeman?
Capitol police, who probably perform the same services as Capitol interns.
That explains a lot.
No jury would have convicted Matthews.
I think I'm going to have to send him a note about this so it doesn't happen again.
Ayers has made a lot of enemies who are all quite willing to appear in court and testify that we knew Ayers was hunting him down for years and years, so it was clearly just self-defense.

I served with Prissy Chrissy in 1973-1974 as a Capitol cop. While the “indoor” duties were more related to building security, defense of the Capitol grounds, extending last Union Station to the north and the Arboretum to the west was a different story. And as for the “intern” like duties of the Capitol police, tell that to the two officers who were killed on duty protecting a Congressman from a lethal attack by a disgruntled constituent.
Having dealt with them when we're there on Capitol Hill, I don't agree with that assesment.
Don't confuse them with Matthews.
What is the difference between Bill Ayers and Charlie Manson? Ayers intended to kill many more people than Charlie, Ayers admits it, and is still walking free.
Well, a 62 yr. old man who wears earrings has serious issues with insecurity about getting old and flabby, no longer being appealing to the girls, and all that. Any real man won’t waste his time fooling with earrings, for himself at any rate. (I’m 62, so I can talk.) - Ayers strikes me as an arrogant know-it-all whistling past the graveyard about the prospect of meeting his Maker sooner rather than later, and needin’ to ‘splain a few things that may not have been quite as he “thought”.
