ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Dec. 12) - Gov. Charlie Crist became the first sitting Florida governor to wed in nearly 42 years, exchanging vows Friday at a ceremony attended by some 200 relatives, friends and celebrities. The 52-year-old governor wed his 39-year-old bride, New York socialite Carole Rome, at First United Methodist Church, a short walk from Crist's rented condo in St. Petersburg. They had met at a dinner in New York City in September 2007 and Crist proposed less than 10 months later with a sapphire engagement ring.

We can’t have a First Lady with fake maracas!
Good for them! I love weddings.
Yankee girl in a liberal church. Reckon he couldn’t catch a Southern Baptist.
Well, excuuuuuues me!
LOL
why....hes a ‘Grick’.
OK, I asked this before on a previous thread on the topic and got no answer so I’ll try again. I know nothing about Florida politics but I don’t understand why so many people assume Crist is gay. Is it just because he married relatively late in life? I mean, where does this come from?
er...... from hanging out at gay bars. But that's just me.
I might not choose to go to a gay bar, but there's nothing wrong with going to a gay bar...Mr Crist didn't think it was wrong either.
Because he looks gay, kinda swishes around. His eyes definately have that twinkle. Also, there have been gay rumors about him going around for many years. He has not been “outed” by the gay establishment because his is relatively “gay friendly”. They have a big article about the issue in a local “artsy” type news weekly. (New Times).
“He looks good with a beard.”
LOL.Very subtle humor.
not at 39...
Gees, does he not know that vests are out?
Seems to have odd posture.
didn’t they just outlaw gay marriage in FL?
As Hank would say:
"The boy ain't right!"
Charlie’s liberal preferences are of much more concern to me than his sexual preferences.
IOW, I’ll take a gay conservative over a hetero RINO any time.
No kidding... LOL... That was my first thought too.
;^)
I wish everyone would give it a rest about Gov. Crist. The only fault I can find with his wedding is inviting Wexler.
The reparative therapy seems to be working. Welcome to the team, Charlie!
Tom Gallagher, heavily backed by the religious right, practically tried to run his whole whole campaign on the smear..and asked Crist in a debate why he didn't oppose civil unions between gays. Charlie responded, “I don't know Tom...I guess I'm just more of a live and let live kind of guy”.
Crist beat Gallagher with 77% of Floridian votes and has gone on to be one of the States most popular Governor's
The religious right turned on him because he refused to allow his office to become involved in the civil court case of Terri Schiavo while he was States Attorney General.. He told Jebb Bush that his office had no standing in the case under the Fl. Constitution. The USSC later agreed with his interpretation as did 80% of Floridians.
Americans in general do not respond well to dogmatic intolerance. It is a big part of why the GOP is becoming irrelevant. Hatefull lies from self righteous ideologues have become a staple of political campaigns and the country is tired of it. With all the problems we face, who sleeps with who or who is a "proper Christian" doesn't make a damn to the majority of Americans.
