Islamic star and crescent join town's Christmas tree, menorah
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | December 14, 2008

The decision by a New York village to place the Islamic star and crescent alongside the community's official Christmas tree has a Catholic leader wondering if there are any wise men among the town's leaders.

Supervisors for Armonk, N.Y. voted to display a menorah and a star and crescent at tonight's Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the town's gazebo.

"We've decided to go in the direction of being all-inclusive," Supervisor Reese Berman told Associated Press.

The village had added the menorah previously. Last year, town resident Asad Jilani, saying the Christmas season is an appropriate time to celebrate all cultures, asked the board to include Islamic symbols as well.

"I said 'Oh, there's a menorah and a Christmas tree and where is my crescent?'" said Jilani.

Berman, who is Jewish, said the town did not have time to adequately address Jilani's request last year and, to not make Muslims feel they were being specifically excluded, the menorah was removed to a local synagogue.

"The last thing I was suggesting was to move the menorah," Jilani said. "I wanted this to be for openness, for representing everyone."

This year, after a committee researched the law and what was being done in other communities, Armonk leaders voted to include the star and crescent, even though the closest Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha does not always fall in December.

"It might have been easier to just do away with the Christmas tree and everything else but it would be too much of an assault on what we're used to at Christmas," said Berman.

The ironies are Islam doesn't include any religion in its society nor is it a religion. It is a violent political ideology of which religion is one component used to impose Sharia law on all societies as explained in the following article: Islamic Scholar Warns U.S. of 'Two-Faced' Muslims

They've forgotten some: A Hindu god, a statue of Buddha, whatever Goddess Wicans worship, a Shinto shrine, and there has to be some obscure tribe in the Amazon River basin and in Indonesia that worship some kind of idol.

I understand now why Jesus said that the road to Heaven is very narrow and not everyone will be allowed to enter.

These PC idiots need to get their heads out of their butts and accept Jesus Christ who is the ONLY Savior!

National suicide. We need to toss out all these P.C. politicos and install some with the stones to resist and repel the islamic invasion. Because it IS an invasion, with the muzz that are here acting as the Trojan Horse.

This is what it’s come to. If anyone had doubts, those must be vanishing on a daily basis. By custom, we DO NOT celebrate a generic “winter holiday” - We celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah. Putting a different name on the season and making it “inclusive” doesn’t change the reality of what it is.
Words mean something and facts are facts. Americans have shown an amazing willingness to be duped and enslaved by political correctness. I’m very sad for my country.

We’re getting rain today. 37 degrees already, going up to 43 *YIKES* so everything is a slick, icy mess with the snow melting. Grrrrr! I’ll be selling Christmas Trees today, so being outside will be a pleasure for once this season.

Tonight’s low will be 9 degrees...a 34 degree temperature drop for those playing along at home, LOL!

Then, it’s into the teens for the week. No below-zero predictions YET...but my Bunny Boots are laced up and ready to go! :)

“I said ‘Oh, there’s a menorah and a Christmas tree and where is my crescent?’” said Jilani.

Last time I saw one of your “crescents”, it was hacking away at the neck of some poor guy you didn’t like.

Maybe its time to just get the government out of “religion”. “Embracing” all lowers Christianity to the level of a curiosity, a museum relic.”Look children, some people believe this and look some people believe that.”

We the people will decide which to honor. We can hold our own parades and whatnot. Government can just stay neutral meaning stay out of the way. [It assumes a non-hostile municipal government that will not withold permits etc.]

There is no need for cities to be involved. Much as I would like them to acknowlege Christmas, these contortions of “fayerness” are becoming ridiculous.
This particular town didn’t have a real choice. Had the refused to put up the crescent, they would most likely have been sued and would certainly have lost.

According to the board's guidelines, any group interested in displaying a privately-funded symbol through the Christmas season must submit a formal application. The board makes no determination as to whether a symbol is secular or religious. The process is open to all religions.

Allowing an Islamic symbol based on a potential lawsuit as a litmus test will only further to embolden Islam for more acceptance of their ideology. At some point people need to make a stand regardless of the consequences with the understanding Islam intends to destroy our culture.

This PC is far more dangerous than meets the eye. It results in "cloudy thinking" and the inability to ask the questions that need be asked and the inability of a country to reach a coherent, appropriate national consensus.

How about some mannequins, one on his knees in an orange jumpsuit, and one dressed in middle east militant chic, holding a large knife, as the modern Islamic contribution to the winter season multicultural display.

As far as I’ve heard, the only holiday on which other religions must be represented is Christmas. What Christian symbols will be displayed whenever other religions celebrate their holidays?

“Last year, town resident Asad Jilani, saying the Christmas season is an appropriate time to celebrate all cultures,”

And how was it decided that the Christmas season was an appropriate time to celebrate all cultures? This is just a common leftist tactic: steal someone else’s audience and force your views or symbols on people who don’t care to hear or see them.

Then a Christmas tree should be planted at Mecca during Ramadan if that is the line of thinking they are going to use.

Of course, Christians COULD use the opportunity to humbly seek interaction with people of other faiths and figure out how to get outside their cultural bubble and actually (gasp!) “evangelize” and make disciples of the heathen at our door. That might require learning how to love, learning to read the bible with people who have no clue what it says, and learning how to be FRIENDS with the godless.

However, that might require that we see ourselves as sinners just as in need of the Christmas story as the wicked. We might have to actually pray for them and learn how to walk that slippery and unstable road of UNDERSTANDING the worldview and lifestyle of the pagan without swerving over into it.............

Nah, rather than obey the bible ourselves, it is better and safer that we just bitch that the government not make THEM obey, and preserve our holidays from their influence. Never mind how our cuture came to esteem these holidays in the first place.

Isn’t it just a SHAME that all this multicultural doo dah just ruins Christmas. God! How I HATE the wicked!

Yeah, that’s the ticket!

From The False Prophet, p. 13, quoting Arutz Sheva Israel National Radio, 9/30/2001, 4:43pm by Moshe Feiglin:

President Bush was speaking to the American people: “I declare tomorrow to be a day of prayer,” said the President. “I ask every American, during lunch time tomorrow to pray for all the injured, their families, and the American nation. Go to church, to the synagogue, to the mosque and pray,” ended the President. “

Did I hear right?” I ask the storekeeper, “Did he say mosque?”

She nodded.

At this very moment you’ve just lost the war,” I say to the astonished storekeeper, and start looking for what I need on the shelves.

That’s fine, as long as they include a cross during Muslim holidays.

AMEN. Should be repeated over and over, shouted from the rooftops, sent in letters to editors at every newspaper in America, over and over again. Not just once, but every time it comes up.

Christianity and Judaism don't advocate penalizing/enslaving/killing those who don't adopt Christianity or Judaism. Islam advocates severe negative consequences for "unbelievers" who don't adopt Islam. That is why any symbol of Islam should be excluded ALWAYS EVERY TIME in connection with a Jewish or Christian holiday. Either that, or EVERY MUSLIM HOLIDAY should have a Star of David and a Cross as part of its symbolism if they're going to function here in the United States.

Islam can go to hell. Crusaders must rise again if Western Civilization wants to survive.

I agree. And the problem is deeply rooted. Children are taught to “feel” rather than think or analyze and they’re led to believe that all viewpoints are equally valid.
It would be hard to combat this without overhauling our educational system, and it’g probably already too late.

I agree with you.

But most towns simply won’t and there will be a vocal minority that agitates against taking that stand, using money as its primary objection. The vast majority that DO take such stands lose because of the law’s current interpretation.

Thats why I suggest just getting out of the business entirely. The watered down generic “holiday” stuff is sickening.
