I thought the F-35 was for export and the F-22 was ours. What was the point of developing the F-35 if we’re going to export the F-22? Last I knew, Britain was mad about us not allowing them access to proprietary computer codes or some such thing. I say the F-22 is ours and the F-35 is for our allies.
The F-22 is strictly a Fighter. The F-35 is multi roll. Along the line of the F-15 vs F-16 before the F-15E. There has been talk of a line of ground attack munitions for the F-22, but I do not know how far along they are. Once you start hanging weapons on it stealth goes out the window. So weapons load would be very low. What I’ve heard of is a small diameter guided bomb along the lines of JDAMs.
