Ill. House Speaker Michael Madigan said Monday he would form a House committee to begin preparations to impeach Gov. Rod Blagojevic, CBS station WBBM-TV reported.
The committee will work every day from now through the end of the session on Jan. 14 with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day to move the impeachment ahead through the House, Madigan said. A resolution for impeachment will be introduced either Monday or Tuesday. At least 75 House members are in favor of such a resolution, which is more than the majority that is required.
There are signs that Governor Blagojevich may not be ready to back down, and may fight the charges against him. He was arrested last week on charges that he attempted to sell President-elect Obama's vacant Senate seat.
Earlier, there had been reports that the governor intended to resign possibly as soon as today. But now a spokesman for the governor says it appears that he has no intention of announcing his resignation today. At this point, the governor seems to be ready to fight the charges.

So the Committee is charged with a plan to bell the cat. They’ve got to make sure no members are required to testify, or otherwise be implicated in Blogo’s wrongdoing, which somehow did not involve the legislature.

He hasn’t even been charged with anything yet has he? What grounds are they going to impeach him on? Embarrassing allegations? lol

OK, thanks. The press has talked a lot about allegations and connections but not much about the charges. I don’t think I have seen an article that has listed the charges.
