Obama will report gov contacts next week (Referred Review Request by DA until Dec., 22)
Politico ^ | December 15, 2008 | Mike Allen

President-elect Obama's office announced Monday afternoon that he is deferring his report about contacts with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich until next week, at the request of federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.

In a statement, Transition Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said the review confirms that Obama had no contact with Blagojevich or his staff and that Obama's staff had no "inappropriate discussions" with the governor or his aides on selecting Obama's successor in the U.S. Senate.

Obama had said Thursday: "What I want to do is to gather all the facts about any staff contacts that I might — may have — that may have taken place between the transition office and the governor's office. And we'll have those in the next few days, and we'll present them."

But his staff now says the review will be "deferred until the week of December 22" at the request of the U.S. attorney's office "in order not to impede their investigation of the governor."

Democrats outside the transition said they worry that the delay will continue to distract from Obama's message as he makes a final round of appointments before leaving this weekend for more than a week of Christmas vacation in Hawaii.

Here is the statement from Pfeiffer:

"At the direction of the President-elect, a review of Transition staff contacts with Governor Blagojevich and his office has been conducted and completed and is ready for release. That review affirmed the public statements of the President-elect that he had no contact with the governor or his staff, and that the President-elect's staff was not involved in inappropriate discussions with the governor or his staff over the selection of his successor as US Senator.

"Also at the President-elect's direction, Gregory Craig, counsel to the Transition, has kept the US Attorney's office informed of this fact-gathering process in order to ensure our full cooperation with the investigation.

"In the course of those discussions, the US Attorney's office requested the public release of the Transition review be deferred until the week of December 22, in order not to impede their investigation of the governor. The Transition has agreed to this revised timetable for release."

Looks like “Operation Hide & Distort: has begun in Barky’s camp. What a liar. Uggh..will we ever get a President who is not a disgrace????

So Husseins staff talked with Blago, but they didn’t tell Hussein about any of the conversations. It’s annoying that these people think all of us are as dumb as the voters who put Hussein in the White House!

Still think Fitz is fair?

Sure... conducting the Plame investigation when there was no crime and he already knew who "outed" her was real fair. He's a real stand up guy.

How very Orwellian of Mr. Pfeiffer. No doubt the Obama regime's definition of "inappropriate discussions", which is the only one that matters right now, is very loose indeed, and they will make that phrase mean whatever they want it to mean.

They are telling you what to think before they release any details that might otherwise lead you to believe your own eyes and ears rather than accepting their say-so...

It reminds me of the UN's IPCC climate panel - the one that released the (essentially predetermined) conclusions of the report before the underlying analysis had been completed and released.

Get ready for four years of this garbage...

Fitz is worried about Obama firing him so Obama can do no wrong as far as Fitzy is concerned. Blago is the fall guy in this and NOBODY else will be touched.

Nothing personal, but I sure hope you’re wrong. At the very least I want to see Rahm-bo go down in flames.

This is a trap. Fitz knows exactly who on Obama’s staff had contact with the Blog’s office. If any of them lie about their contacts, Fitz will nail them for obstruction of justice or making a false statment to a federal agent.

Do you not think that Obama and company are aware of this, too and are carefully avoiding any perjury traps? This is a dry hole. Meanwhile, the Electoral College voted to elect Obama today.

That's the beauty of it all. If Obama's people tell the truth, they are in big trouble and the same if they aren't truthful; and if they decide to withhold any of the information, they are in trouble because Fitz already knows a great deal of it.

What Obama doesn't know are facts of which Fitz is unaware. All this makes it very difficult for Obama to decide just how thruthful he should be. It wil also force Obama to toss anyonewho is less than totally honest under the bus.

Say what you want, but Fitz is a smart guy.

Fitzgerald is running cover for Obama. First, he prematurely arrested Blago to protect Obama and his staff from getting in any deeper than they already were, and now he’s helping orchestrate a document dump down the public’s Fitzmas memory hole.

Change you can believe in.

"the review confirms that Obama had no contact with Blagojevich or his staff"

It took The Messiah a week to determine he didn't talk to Blago? And the another week to release the "study". This guy makes BJ look like an amateur.

Correctamundo. How can we trust Comrade Obama on big issues when he lies about inconsequential issues?

I have draft copy of the internal report....

In an attempted gesture at humor, a joke, Rahm offered 500,000 dollars for a government “toilet” seat. Apparently the deranged and crazy governor thought this was an offer for a congressional seat. Blago just didn't get the humor.

When Rahm raised his offer for a “toilet” seat with a deferred payment of 1,500,000 Blago accepted the offer, proving he still did not understand that this was a joke about a “toilet” seat.

Rahm then reported to Obama that the crazy governor was trying to sell a toilet seat for 1,500,000 dollars. To go along with the joke, Obama said “lets buy it, I like that toilet seat, I actually sat on it for four years.”
