WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Barack Obama has chosen Chicago schools chief Arne Duncan to serve as education secretary, people with knowledge of the decision said Monday.

Chicago has about the worst school district in the country. Obama is wise to bring on board someone who can bring that kind of change to the entire country.

The guy doesn’t have nearly enough heft — or success - to make the cut. Even his supporters would admit that he isn’t a charismatic or dynamic speaker. He doesn’t really give Obama anything politically. Hell, I don’t even think Duncan realized he was signing onto two different manifestos. (But I’ll check, just to be sure.)”

Yet another friend (like Ayres) from the Hyde Park neighborhood....I heard rumors about Arne’s appointment a few days before the election. I’m surprised it took this long for Obama to announce it.
