I heard somewhere , Illinois impeachment actually requires evidence . I haven't seen any yet . I still believe in the presumption of innocence and remember what a snake Fitzgerald is . We can not surrender civil liberties even for people like Blogojevich .

They needed to wait until something was actually done by Blago.
It doesn’t matter if Blago was talking about invading Missouri with the Illinois National Guard if he never does it. He’s just TALKING.

Some said they worried that the impeachment work which is expected to occupy many late nights and many weekends might take time from what needs to be done to deal with the states other problems, including a budget deficit and what some lawmakers say has been a virtual halt to state business since Mr. Blagojevich was arrested a week ago.And how is this is bad? /s
Seriously, there will not be an impeachment or removal as governor. And it's starting to look doubtful there will even be a conviction. All the IL Democrat bluster was just for show. IL voters are stuck with not only a lame duck, but a corrupt lame duck, for the next two years.
Who knows how the Senate seat gets filled.

Why waste time?
Dhimmicrat.
No conviction.
They need the time and money to go after Bush.
(Dhimmicratic politics are easy to predict. Crime? Your fault. Depression? Your fault. The law? We don’t need no stinkin’ law. Constitution? What’s that?

Anything that pushes that Illinois Senate vote to remove Gov. Zod closer to Barry’s inauguration is a very good thing.

This SNAFU is gloriously FUBAR; FTA:
Mr. Blagojevich has not yet been indicted in the criminal investigation, and some experts say the inquiry might create problems for federal prosecutors criminal proceedings against him, if witnesses are compelled to testify and are granted immunity.
If you grant people immunity, you can really screw up investigations, said Ronald J. Allen, a professor of law at Northwestern, pointing to the case of Oliver L. North, whose conviction in the Iran-contra affair was thrown out because of immunity granted during Congressional hearings. Professor Allen said most at risk were potential cases against people who were involved but have not yet been charged.
It should be a suppurating pustule on the anus of the Red Messiah's administration for many months, worse even than a malignant hemorrhoid.

Our side will be well served if Blagojevich receives due process and a complete and open disclosure of all pertinent evidence.
I wonder if the MSM realizes how much their readership/viewership would go up if they exposed Illinois politics to a little sunshine. It might even keep a few newspapers out of Chapter 11. A big Obama scandal would sell a lot of newspapers.

... Impeachment Inquiry Stalls
Impeachment is a political action. So far, they are seeking impeachment because Rod is an embarrassment. I'm not sure that is an impeachable offense, even in Illinois.

I have a feeling this scandle is “over.”
Fitzgerald’s preemptive release of information has prevented anything illegal from actually taking place, and the circling of the wagons by the IL Dems and Obama means there will be no new revelations.
We will be entering the “boring” and extended legal manuevering stage, which will cause the story to slowly move out of the MSM. Blago will at the end of all this eventually be slapped on the wrist and put out to pasture.

Mr. Fitzgerald asked the committee for a formal letter outlining its plans, indicating some reluctance about having witnesses testify who might harm the federal case.Cut 'em off at the knees, Fitz. Wrecking your case is probably the plan.
