And why would the fact that a local Police Chief in Alaska running for Mayor of a city in Alaska, be of interest?

Isn’t this guy the dumb ass who didn’t want to fire the guy who tasered Sarah’s nephew. Oh yeah this guy deserves to be mayor...NOT

I’ve seen lunatics on the far left say they want him to run against her for Governor.

I think he is actually one of the early attempts by the clueless Left to derail Sarah Palin. The Left desperately fears a Palin Presidential run for the 2012 election. Considering that the people are likely to be ultra sick of the Messiah in the empty suit by then, the Left is right to be scared!

Yep. I guess a writer at Huffington Post passingly mentioned her rejection of the pay raise and then went on a rant about how she should be impeached for her actions when she fired this jerk. They actually seem hysterically desperate right now.

Odd it doesn’t say which party’s nomination he will seek. I thought he was a Republican, but I guess he could switch. Of course, he’d have to get the nomination. I’m guessing in a city the size of Anchorage quite a few people might want the mayor’s job.

If, in the MSM, his party is not expressed, he is most likely a Democrat.

Anchorage's Mayor is a non-partisan race. No parties are listed either when filing or on the ballot. I've known Walt Monagan a long time. He's a decent guy and well thought of up here despite the Palin thing. The whole Troopergate issue, however, did give him the name exposure to be taken as a serious candidate. Lot's of good candidates for an open seat, plenty of time left, takes 40% to win or, (like I'm guessing) a runoff. Will be interesting.

Fine, let him run. Are people going to seriously vote for him? What would it say about them if he’s elected? Voters have to be held responsible at some point in all this.

Absolutely. Nothing else explains the total dnc/press offensive against her. They have to tear her and her family to shreds, paint them as wild eyed "fundie extremist right wingers" and mine every discontented leftist in the State of Alaska to prevent her candidacy. A textbook example of a political homicide in progress.
