"Please explain."

Who exactly are "the poor" referred to in your post?

Are "the poor" people who happen to be of a non approved race or ethnicity whom have been deprived the right to make a living in a chosen profession by a politically correct movement?

I'd say so. I think that you would not.

That is what those who claim to "represent the poor" would have myself and others think.

The fact is that I am the poor. Stifled in ways that you will never know simply because of the fact that I was not born of color. My best friends went off to find better opportunities in diverse industries while I was often told that "we are not hiring" by the liars in HR Depts all over the place.

I have heard it for my entire life. "The poor, the poor, the poor."

I grew up as "the poor" and I'm sorry about that. One day I became a man and saw just exactly what being "one of the poor" actually meant.

I refuse to ever submit to the sort of mindset that your post suggests is somehow appropriate on this particular site.

Tell "the poor" to go out and get a freaking job.

We have immigrants from all over the world who are really "poor" and who are chomping at the bit to get into this country, legally or otherwise.

Your post stinks and because you have so far dodged the axe you think that you are ready to engage?

Get over that.

And this past week Shell and BP both announced they would no longer build wind turbines in Europe, but would concentrate on the USA where there was more financial incentive... we are all being taken for an expensive ride.

Your post there makes complete sense.

How come I have to keep rereading it?

I originally was commenting on the Easter Islands post, but in truth the real thing that most intrigued me about that book was the chapter(s) on Montana.

I kept thinking about “Atlas Shrugged” as I was reading it (the book Collapse I mean).

“Are “the poor” people who happen to be of a non approved race or ethnicity whom have been deprived the right to make a living in a chosen profession by a politically correct movement?”

There is a saying. “The rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class pay the taxes.”

Our society is becoming a two class system and things like universal health care and the government managing your 401k are ways to get rid of the middle class. It is designed to take away money from the middle class to give to the lower class.

Don’t get so hung up on the label of being “poor.” Both my wife and I lost our jobs recently. While we have no car payments or credit card payments, 392 dollars a week is not going to pay my mortgage, my 18k a year medical payment, gas for my car and food for my table. I can liquidate my 401k at a 38% loss in a downturn economy. My “College Degree” means crap right now as there are no jobs in my city that pay even 1/3 what I have been making.

I can move, but I cannot sell my house because no one is buying.

The leftwing of this country has been doing everything in their power over the last 20 years to rid this country of the middle class and turn America’s Conservative middle class into a nation of racists, sexists, and rich people who want nothing more then to keep the poor down. If anything, I resent what the leftwing of the American political system stands for.

If you have read anything I have written over the last 5 years you would have known this. Instead you read something and without even sending a private message to ask me to elaborate, you made a statement that has no basis of anything but your own emotions.

Your assumption about my post was 100% incorrect. And I resent your assertion that I am not “FR.Com” material. I served my country with pride, I believe in our Constitution, I am a member of the NRA and believe that the two most important things in being an American is believing in God and Country.

Get over yourself. You are no better than I am.

I thought Collapse was fantastic. His previous book, Guns Germs and Steel was excellent as well. The chapter on Japan is interesting - an overpopulated island that avoided the kind of collapse of Easter Island through deliberate policies of sustainable exploitation of resources. But beware, a mention of Jared Diamond will cause abuse flags to Admin Moderator almost before you hit the post button.

And just so we are clear.

“”...And it is being foisted upon us by people who want to make sure the poor stay poor.”

By those “people” I will assume that you are referring to our entrenched politicians and their sponsors/supporters.

BTW your post has the sense to me of one who is not fully on board with the tenets of FR.com.”

Yes, I was referring to our entrenched politicians and their sponsors and supporters who want to deprive the American people of obtaining energy independence so they can fill their pockets at our expense.

Wind turbines work- when politicians are not involved.

Do wind turbines work when the wind speed is 0 knots? I don't know about your ISP connection but mine quits when the wind turbines stop spinning. (:^o)

Yeah... you can store a charge... you didn't know that?

Seriously... are you some kind of alternative energy Luddite?... It is ridiculous to reject technologies because they have become political instruments of the left. Instead, new industries should be taken advantage of quickly and adopted by the conservatives- It is a commonsense issue.

Oh now we're adding batteries to this windage boondoggle? Let's turn down the nukes and the coal-fired generators. But what are those people in the 50th floor elevator of the Trump Tower going to do when the wind stops blowing? Oh that's right. Batteries. (:^o)

they are storing power only if they have pumped water uphill in a reservoir someplace. Or something similar. Can’t store AC - lol.

I like the way nature has stored solar energy - in the form of fossil fuels, coal, firewood, switch grass, etc.

All of the plants operate normally. If their turbines do not move, they are storing the energy. It doesn't mean they are not functioning," he said.

Rates right up there with global warming causing all this cold. Only the gullible believe either.

The solar plant continues to perform efficiently, producing up to 30 kilowatts of electricity per hour.

Huh??????
