Schwarzenegger For President?
AOL Political Machine ^ | December 22, 2008 | Christopher Weber

In a sprawling interview with 60 Minutes last night, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger dropped a not-so-subtle hint to Republicans: get busy changing the Constitution because Ahnold has his eyes on the White House. Asked by Scott Pelley if he'd like to be president, Schwarzenegger responded in no uncertain terms:

"Yeah, absolutely," Schwarzenegger acknowledged. "I think that I am always a person that looks for the next big goal. And I love challenges. I always set goals that are so high, that are almost impossible to achieve. Because then, you're always hungry for climbing and climbing. Because it's always interesting. The climb is always interesting. When you get there you just have to pick another goal."

Schwarzenegger was, of course, not born in the U.S.A. so it would take some rule changing before he's able to launch a presidential bid. I'm sure Californians, myself included, would like to see the governor make good on his campaign promise to chip away at the Golden State's epic budget shortfall before he starts looking for a promotion.

Sure! Why not? He's done such a bang-up job out there in Cauleyphoniyah.{/s}

The actual Terminator character did less damage to the state over the course of three movies.

The article is simply ignorant. It takes 2/3rds of both houses of congress and 3/4 of the state legislatures to pass an amendment of any kind.  No serious person believes either to be possible in Arnold's lifetime. This article was simply written by someone that thinks he has to write something every day and didn't have anything else to write about.  It's sole purpose is the same as the guiding principle of People Magazine & The National Enquirer... eyeballs count, not intelligent thinking.

Schwarzenegger for President?

Aside from the fact that he is Constitutionally barred from the office, I still would say, thanks but no thanks. The last thing we need is another RINO in a position of any authority."

I think it would be great to let Ahhnold start campaigning right away. Screw the Constitution. When confronted, he just needs to point to the lack of interest in Obama’s eligibility questions. Maybe it will shine a brighter light and force Obama to show legitimate proof.

Hey, if Obama didn’t have to show proof, why should anybody else?

If the rats changed the Constitution we would be lucky to get someone like Arnold. Sorrors would demand the position. Arnold is just s dull muscle head that has bankrupt Kalifornia.

He’d be better off running against Feinstein or Boxer.”

After following all the threads about NObama and his birth certificate, I am understanding that NObama might not have been eligible for that job, either, and if so, the same would apply to Arnold.

If not born here, they cannot be in the senate and be a POSSIBLE ascendant to the office of President.

Why amend it? after Obama, the question is moot.

Especially if the truth about his citizenship status comes out. People will yawn and Arno’s star power will propel him, despite his citizenship as a naturalized, since the voters will have come to accept Obama’s rather dubious status as well.

IMO, B. Hussein Obama is NOT qualified to be President according to the 1952 Immigration Laws, in effect at that time.

The guy is completely delusional. He apparently has no clue that he has been a complete failure in his present job.

Sorry, but Arnie here could make a box of rocks look smart by comparison. He’s too stupid to chew his own food and I don’t think California would have been any worse off if they’d just left Gray Davis in there.

If we had any kind of reasonable and enforceable intelligence levels for voting, he probably wouldn’t be eligible to vote, much less hold office.

“My question. What qualification does a ‘movie action hero’ have that would make him qualified to be ‘president’.”

Schwarzenegger might be qualified, not in a Constitutional sense but in a practical sense, because he is governor of California. The story mentions this at the outset.

Anyway, being an action hero would not qualify one to be president, whether you were heroic on the screen or in real life. Some people will disagree with me on this, citing Washington, Jackson, Grant, Eisenhower, etc. But of course those men weren’t elected because they threw themselves into the breach. They were elected, mostly, because they proved themselves able administrators.

He's a LIBERAL! Why would we want to change the Constitution just for him? He has NO chance of winning the Republican nomination. Fudgitaboutit, Ahnold!

Well, Ahnold, we realize that with the coronation of BO, actually accomplishing anything in a lower office is no longer a requirement to be elected president. Neither is proof of natural birth, for that matter. Nevertheless, can you name even one accomplishment as governor which you feel would make you qualified to be president?

“If not born here, they cannot be in the senate and be a POSSIBLE ascendant to the office of President.”

Not so. First, if what you say were true, it would only mean that he couldn’t be named president pro-tem, which is the only Senate position that stands in the presidential succession line. Second, unqualified persons have occupied offices in the succession line before, most notably Kissinger as Secretary of State.
