All in all, I like Politico's list of the top ten media blunders of 2008, by staff writer Michael Calderone, appearing on the website this evening. How can you not like a list that includes, among other faux pas:
* MSNBC's use of Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as election night and convention co-anchors; * The New York Times's suggestive but unsubstantiated story about John McCain and lobbyist Vikki Iseman; and * The MSM's lack of curiosity despite the National Enquirer's solid reporting on the John Edwards affair?
But no story about a list would be complete without some beefing and second-guessing, and I have some. Here's blunder #6 on the Politico list [emphasis added]:

Politico calls Obama’s relationships with Ayers, Wright “trivial” ping to Today show list.
“trivial” hilarious, starting your political career in the home of a terrorist is “trivial” what would be considered relevant to politico.com, Obama being buddies with Osama Bin Laden
Politico is a waste of time.
The connection with Ayers and Wright show us, in part, how Obama operates. Ayers was long ago whitewashed by the liberal establishment in Chicago, and Wright plugged him into the black ethnic wing of the Chicago political establishment.
Mike Allen of Politico drinks Obama’s BATHWATER......he is PATHETIC! I have No idea of why Hugh Hewitt has him on.
I’ve got a beef. There was an entire past life of a presidential candidate, some of it shrouded in mystery, and none of it got reported.
Mark Finkelstein is too kind to Politico - the web agent of the Washington Post. The media did not “blunder”; they did exactly what they wanted to do, which was elect Obama, and to do so by hiding every negative item, and promoting every negative item, even if imaginary, about his opponents.
That was strategy, not blunder.
I kinda enjoyed Politico.com when they first came out. They did a hard left turn when Obama came on the scene. I have no use for them now either .. !
Well said. The Mediascum do not “blunder” (at least in the short term) by doing exactly what they set out to do, which is to elect the socialist Obamanation.
Now if enough people are finally turned off and willing to avoid the Mediascum entirely (as I have done nearly 100% for many years) then the alphabet networks and NY Times, WaPo, et al will finally die the commercial death they so richly deserve.
THEN their propagandistic lunacy on behalf of the Obamanation might come to be seen as a blunder, but that will only be true if enough of the major media organs finally go under.
Good point. Committing suicide is never a good end point, so in that sense the dncmedia have blundered.
