Washington (AP) - Southern and western states are poised to snatch more congressional seats from the rest of the country as Americans pursue open spaces and warmer climates.
...
Texas stands to be the biggest winner, picking up as many as four seats, while Ohio could be the big loser, giving up as many as two seats, according to projections by two firms that specialize in political apportionment. California is in danger of losing a seat for the first time since it became a state, though experts disagree on the likelihood of that happening.
...
Florida is expected to gain at least one seat in Congress, and perhaps two, following the 2010 census, said Kim Brace of Election Data Services, a Virginia-based firm that crunches political numbers..
...
Brace projects Arizona to add two seats, while Georgia, Nevada, South Carolina and Utah could add one each. States projected to lose single seats are Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Yabbut will those implants turn into red voters? Massachusetts people have been moving to NH for years and look what has happened to us. It ain’t pretty.
I don’t see how you get a net migration of 20 from this.
“open spaces and warmer climate”
Maybe. More likely lower taxes and less socialism.
The detox from liberalism may take years, even decades, but hope is what Christmas is all about!
Red areas: Texas +4, Florida +2, Arizona +2, Georgia, South Carolina and Utah +1 each but Louisiana and Missouri -1 each. Total plus 9. Blue areas: Ohio -2, California, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania -1 each, but Nevada +1. Total minus 10. Net +19.
Now add two dem senate seats and one or two congressmen for the new state of Washington DC.
California is in danger of losing a seat for the first time since it became a state/ and the democrats run the state so well only 48 billion in debt.
And from 2500 miles away I can say I concur. NH used to reliably be a state filled with old-fashioned, hard-working, patriotic Americans. Has "Live Free or Die" been replaced by "Compassion, Tolerance and Diversity" yet?
Sorry how that sounds ... I've lived in Southern California nearly all my life and it has changed from a conservative bastion into a leftist piece of real estate that resembles the third world. So I can empathize, and I didn't mean to mock your state motto. The alternative was one once proposed for the city of San Francisco.
But would I be wrong to say that there are very few pockets of America left where the NH motto might apply?
Now that Democrats run NH, have any of these liberal loonies submitted legislation attempting to change the state motto?
Sigh.
Note to the nation: Can't say you weren't warned.
>>States projected to lose single seats are Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
Delaware has only one seat; but for all the good it does, it might as well have none.
A big if. There is no reason to believe that the migrants are not bringing their Democratic ways with them.
They are bringing their liberal ways with them. It scares me that so many northerners are moving south. Look what happened in North Carolina!
They move south to escape what they have created only to recreate the same hellhole they left.
I look for the dims to make an organized and concerted effort, not necessarily legal, to skew the census in 2010 to mitigate any gains by the Red States and the GOP.
...and millions flee the decadence, corruption, and depravity of the Leftist strongholds.
good news!
And Virginia and Florida. I think you'll see those states go Democrat on a more regular basis from now on.
I am a transplanted Massholer, but I moved to NH to live the conservative "Live Free or Die" way. Not to bring the faggy, panty waisted, corrupt politican way that is Massachusetts.
open spaces and warmer climate With that as the new rule and Algorists pushing their climate change bs, maybe people should migrate to upstate New York!!
