It's not acceptable, says a retired employee of the Veterans Administration, that Bibles and crosses are no longer being placed on the altars of VA facilities across the country.
Bob Wieters is a Vietnam veteran who retired from the VA in 1996 after more than 32 years of federal civil service. The Pineville, Louisiana, man was appalled when he learned what happened to a fellow veteran at a VA facility in North Carolina.
"He was arrested because he...kept placing the Bible and the cross back on the altar at the VA in North Carolina," Weiters relates. "[S]o when I heard that, I went to our local VA here -- and sure enough, I found the Bible and the cross on the floor next to the altar."
Wieters says he learned that the VA is apparently giving in to the demands of someone who does not want the Christian items displayed at VA chapels.
"There was a lawsuit that was filed against the Department of Veterans Affairs, and it is currently in some sort of court litigation," says the war veteran. "But in the interim...the VA as a whole [has decided] to remove the cross and the Bible from all altars at the VA nationwide, which I think is completely wrong."
Wieters says he has not been able to find out who is behind the suit, but he is adamant that the floor is no place for the Bible and the cross. So he has decided to fight the policy and stand up for the freedom that millions of veterans have fought for over the years.

Things from this point are only going to get worse.

Therein lies the problem: There is no one left in authority with ANY spine to stand against PC nonsense. From the highest levels of federal government, to state, to cities, right down even to many neighborhood associations, one liberal voices some PC nonsense and everybody just slinks away in compliance without a fight. I'm sick of it and will personally not participate. I will not attend "holiday parties." I respond to "happy holidays" greetings with "Merry Christmas!"

The guy collecting money for the Salvation Army at the local Kroger wished me a happy holiday...go figure.
When you encounter it, cheerfully remind them that this is Christmas and that saying "Merry Christmas" is a GOOD thing. Many will follow your lead.

Ironic that it is these anti-Christian, Godless aholes that are the very ones that are fulfilling Christian biblical prophecy. Ironic that they’re not even aware of their participation in their own ultimate demise.
And yeah, it’s only going to get worse from here on. It’s positively surreal. If you had told me back in the 1980’s that one day we would be discussing this problem with a closet-Muslim as CIC, I’d have said you were insane. Instead, the world has gone insane.

I wish just once these whiners would have the courage of their convictions and publicly reveal themselves as the culprits of these deeds. If they feel so strongly about the issue, then why are they afraid to show their faces?

Douglass was, of course, referring to slavery.
The battle we face now is a far more important one: It involves the VERY SOUL — AND SURVIVAL — OF THE NATION.
There still is religious services at our local VA every week. The Catholic Mass, Protestant services, Jewish services and any other such service requested is given a time and place to occur. Also, mostly all these services are videotaped for veterans who are not able to attend; they can watch them in their in-room televisions.
...but in reality this business with the VA is a sign of things to come...
..be prepared.

Amen to that! And up to this point in time as evidenced by the event[s] of November 4, 2008, we are losing.
What kind of "facilities" are these? Are these chapels in veterans hospitals? The complaint is also vague. If members come to attend a service, are they scheduled by denomination? I would think a Bible would have to come as a matter of fact for a Christian service and a Torah for a Jewish service. But, I don't see the need to leave a particular Bible/Torah on an alter if it is shared with multiple religions.
