Rezko attorney 'owns' Obama mansion
WorldNetDaily ^ | December 25, 2008 | Jerome R. Corsi

Lawyer at firm where Democrat worked receives property tax bill

An attorney for convicted fundraiser Tony Rezko is listed as the owner and taxpayer for Barack Obama's Chicago mansion, according to records obtained by WND.

William Miceli is a lawyer at the Chicago law firm Miner, Barnhill & Galland, which also formerly employed Obama.

The controversy began when a website called News and Commentary for Thinking People published a 48-page document that lists Miceli as the owner of the Obama home at 5046 S. Greenwood.

Miner, Barnhill & Galland was Obama's employer when he did extensive legal work for Rezko, who awaits sentencing after he was convicted in June of fraud, money laundering and bribery-related counts.

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald has taken new interest in Rezko's involvement in the Obama mansion purchase.

Nothing unusual here. Obomba ws too busy positioning himself to 'rule' America that he didn't have time to pay property taxes, or anything else for that matter.

He doesn't even have to pay for his Christmas holiday in Hawaii.

This could very well be a Trust. Not all that unusual. When my father died we had all my Mom’s assets set up under a Trust so she is pretty much insulated from any liabilities.

Look, it has NEVER been mentioned—in all the back and forth on the mansion—not a drop...makes one wonder why?

“So who is paying the mortage, property taxes and insurance on this house?”

I have a feeling that the American Taxpayer is going to be paying for a lot of luxuries for this guy and ‘Aunt Esther’ when all is said and done.

They already seem to be The Clintons on steroids.

Let the raping of America continue!

(I thought I couldn’t loathe anyone more than Bill Clinton. 0bama is CHANGING all of that!)

The MSM will cover this up and we if possible find a way to blame Bush for this.

That’s some damaging investigation work, unfortunately no one will see it....WND should send the info to the National Enquirer - and I’m not joking one Iota. For some reason people will believe the National Enquirer now- re:John Edwards.

National Enquirer has pulled it’s punches where Obama is concerned. There appears to be some sort of allegiance...because Obama has a rich treasure trove of fodder that the Enquirer has conspicuously ignored.

A trust in another person’s name is unusual when you own the home.

Normally, a mortgage holder pays the real estate taxes out of the escrow account. The mortgage payment includes an escrow payment to cover taxes and sometimes other expenses, anticipated over the next year, but annuitized into monthly payments and added to the mortgage payment.

LOL, damn we have a new conspiracy!!!

People with money do not play by the same rules in the world of finance as we the little people. Lots of times people of means will form a trust and put their homes in their kids names, all for protecting assets and taxes. And it is really common to have your papers protected by and payments made by your attorney.

Not much different that a small business having an LLC.

I work with one of the premier tax lawyers in the country (who is a friend) now and then.
The only trusts in his family name are his.
NEVER seen this kind of thing.

I guess it is a Chicago thing.

It suggests the title in in the name of a trust that the lawyer owns.

Easily could be that lawyer will raise funds to turn over this whole thing to Obama without him paying a penny, and since trusts are not wills, who's to EASILY know?

What everyone seems to miss here is Barack Obama was an elected official. If he was living rent free or tax free in a Chicago mansion, it’s a payoff to an elected official and is illegal.

HOLY Obama Batman. WND tracked down and PUBLISHED the Cook County Treasurer's Office PIN number for Barry's house.

THIS is what comes up:

Synopsis: This property is located at 5046 S Greenwood Ave - Chicago in Hyde Park township. The 7% expanded exemption amount is determined by subtracting the 2007 adjusted base EAV (448,184) from the 2007 EAV (445,201).

This IS Barry's HOU$E boils and curls and there's more

Market Value: $978,412

Now Barry just paid $1.65 MILLION for this house, oops, Mansion. Wonder if he'll be looking for a Mortgage bailout since he's already lost $600K +

The owner could be listed as either the Trust or its executor.

Yep! That is how it is done when you actually have a mortgage and are making payments. Which makes me wonder if the mansion has been paid for, in full? If that is the case then the taxes are the responsibility of the owner, who may hire a lawyer to take care of this petty annoyance.

That is one option, but when I have bought houses the other option is to pay the property taxes yourself out yearly. Some mortgage companies wont allow this because unpaid taxes will become a lien against the property, but some mtg companies will.

The Post said "Obama denied doing any legal work directly for Rezko or his companies," contending Obama had done only "about five hours worth of work" on a joint real estate development project involving Rezko and a Chicago church group.

Not bad compensation for 5 hours of work. Wonder what the real facts are concerning the home purchase for Obama?

Often, whether or not an escrow account is required depends on the amount of equity.

Rahm Emanual has his house set up as HQ for a non-profit charity and pays no property tax. The major contribution by the charity is to his kid’s private school and he and wife are the two contributors to the charity.
