Hutchens says she disagrees with supervisors and will let voters decide her fate in 2010.

Any LEO that doesn’t believe responsible law abiding citizens have a right to defend themselves is dangerous and should be run out of town on a rail
I understand her willingness to review applications because of the Mike Corona indictment, but she has also shown her contempt for the Right to Carry by using the most extreme instances such as a direct threat of harm before she would grant Permits.
I remember when Orange County was a Conservative Mecca, now all I see are Obama Bumper Stickers on SUV’s and German Luxury Cars.
Orange Co permits have previously been issued to less than 1/25th of 1 percent of the county’s population. That’s way too generous with the permits for Sheriff Hutchens.
Yeah, me too. I went to the Register's site & read the comments...it made me sick. What HAPPENED here???
The right of the People of The State Of California to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. No official of the State of California or any of its political subdivisions may require that a person obtain a permit to carry a concealed firearm. No official of the State of California or any of its political subdivisions may enact legislation regulating the manufacture, transportation, or sale of firearms produced within the State boundaries and no taxes or fees shall be levied on any firearm produced within the State boundaries. (Or something like this).
“I wish there were some organization that had the funding to put a State Constitutional initiative forth for the voters to decide this once and for all.”
Ummm, would that organization perhaps be the Republican party? But of course, this would require the voters to decide to vote Republican...
She may want to start loading up on the overtime now so she can increase her already bloated pension benefits another 50%; just in case she loses the election.
Texas is a “Shall issue” state. Looks like California is a “Might issue” one - LOL. If you have to ask PERMISSION, it is not a RIGHT.
is this Kalifornia? because in FL it is a shall issue state and you just use the sheriffs office for fingerprinting the dept of agriculture issues the ccw
I would like to see the Republicans spearhead a right to carry initiative but it could be done without them.
“I would like to see the Republicans spearhead a right to carry initiative but it could be done without them.”
Yes it could. In fact, the NRA has championed Right to Carry iniatives in several states in which the respective state governments were against it. It’s my guess though, that the NRA has calculated the odds of passing such legislation in California and has decided that it can not win at this time. Just a guess though...
I think it could pass, but it’s tough to be certain in this goofy State.
After they’re tarred and feathered, of course.
Me too. I grew up there and graduated from high school there. I bought my first rifle in the city of Orange when I was 7yrs old, that was in 1964. I even walked home with it on my shoulder (with my father next to me) 6 blocks and no one panicked. My father taught my sister and me to shoot a pistol at the Orange Police Department's pistol range, which was open to the public at the time. My how times have changed.
