Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer are "moderate" liberals. And Republican opposition to Obama Supreme Court nominees would constitute a "fake fight" demonstrating that the GOP remains mired in the culture wars. Such was the collective wisdom of two of the roundtable members on ABC's "This Week" today.
Before moving to the substance, a word about the roundtable's lopsided composition, which resembled nothing more than Homecoming for public radio types. To "balance" David Brody of CBN, ABC chose Kurt Andersen of Public Radio International, Alison Stewart of NPR, and John Dickerson of Slate and . . . NPR. Andersen kicked off the Supreme Court segment with his "moderate" liberal comment. Dickerson followed with his pre-emptive warning about that potential Republican "fake fight."

This Finkelstein guy ought to be investigated for something if he thinks Ginsburg is a “moderate liberal” ~ she’s a raving lunatic of a Far Left fanatic ~ more like Pol Pot than let’s say, Kim Il Jung, but still far, far, far to the Left.
I am about sick and tired of the MSM touting the line that Conservatives are single handley fighting a “cutlure war”. A war takes two warring sides. How come it is not the liberals fighting a culture war. Of coars they are fighting one they just want the other side to give up the fight they act like they are not fighting. If they are tired of the cuture war then THEY can quit anytime they like. I HATE the BIAS. It is like Howared Dean screaming about Republicans and God, Guns and Gays. Hey Dean quit fighting YOUR cuture war. This thing is NOT one sided. I could say the same thing... I wish liberals and Democrats would quit taking about God, Guns and Gays all the time and stop their wedge issue game that divides the nation. See how that sounds back at ya.
“This Finkelstein guy,” who happens to be me, governs, was reporting and criticizing what John Dickerson said on the show. I was anything but endorsing his view, as would be clear from reading the article.
Orwell warned us about people like the editors in the MSM — it's not his fault that the left uses his works as how-to manuals.

Thanks, muawiyah. I’ve done the same myself. It’s not unusual for people who haven’t read the article to go off on “that Finkelstein” on these threads. Occasionally I do include big disclaimers advising people to direct their complaints correctly!
Just about any time Rs in Congress decide to show some spine it is likely to be a “fake fight” — maybe they can get the “Gang of 14” to mediate in the Senate!!
Aw, we all know that “Finkelstein guy” is just a puppet of all the outrageous libs he quotes in his pieces — he pretends to be critical of them but he’s actually their publicist. /SARCASM

Darn, you outed me, and here I thought I was being so cagey. The worst part is that the DNC had told me they wouldn’t try to rescue me or pay the ransom if I got captured ;-)

I don’t see the Republicans standing up and fighting now, they have never bothered in the past.
During the campaign, it was all about the things that McCain couldn't say about Obama, and all the things that Obama said, pre-emptively, that McCain WOULD say about him. This resulted in neutering McCain, as he never used any of the pre-emptively off-limits topics against Obama.
Now they're saying, pre-emptively, that a nomination fight will be a "fake fight," so don't try it.

Whomever Obama appoints, no matter how liberal, McCain will lead the way to confirmation.
We got to conservative justices on the court...real conservatives. I can’t see the GOP refusing to confirm liberal judges.
