Barak: Israel Declares "All-Out War" Against Hamas
The Times Of India ^ | December 29, 2008

JERUSALEM: Israel's defence minister Ehud Barak said on Monday that Israel was in an "all-out war against Hamas" as the Jewish state continued its massive bombardment of the Islamist movement's installations in Gaza.

"We have nothing against Gaza residents, but we are engaged in an all-out war against Hamas and its proxies," he said.

"This operation will expand and deepen as much as needed," he said. "We went to war to deal a heavy blow to Hamas, to change the situation in the south."

"We will avoid as much as possible hitting civilians while the people of Hamas and other terrorists deliberately hide and operate within the civilian population."

"I hope Obama is crying."

Perhaps this is happening, as the reality of Obama's election and its consequences sink in.

If the “innocent” civilians are supporters of Hamas, then they should be targets as well.

Godspeed, Israel.

It is time for the USA and the United Nations to give their full support and resources to Israel to eliminate the Hamas altogether, so, at last we can enjoy world peace and harmony between Israel and all of its neighbors.

And so here are some thoughts from way back a year ago:

However, in one area of foreign policy that concerns millions of Americans, he does have a record and it is a particularly troubling one. For all supporters of the America-Israel relationship there is enough information beyond the glare of the klieg lights to give one pause. In contrast to his canned speeches filled with “poetry” and uplifting aphorisms and delivered in a commanding way, behind the campaign façade lies a disquieting pattern of behavior.

One seemingly consistent theme running throughout Barack Obama’s career is his comfort with aligning himself with people who are anti-Israel advocates. This ease around Israel animus has taken various forms. As Obama has continued his political ascent, he has moved up the prestige scale in terms of his associates. Early on in his career he chose a church headed by a former Black Muslim who is a harsh anti-Israel advocate and who may be seen as tinged with anti-Semitism. This church is a member of a denomination whose governing body has taken a series of anti-Israel actions...

...Obama’s soothing and inspiring oratory sometimes vanishes when he talks of the Middle East. Indeed, his off-the-cuff remarks have been uniformly taken by supporters of Israel as signs that the inner Obama does not truly support Israel despite what his canned speeches and essays may contain.

Now that Obama has become a leading Presidential candidate, he has assembled a body of foreign policy advisers who signal that a President Obama would likely have an approach towards Israel radically at odds with those of previous Presidents (both Republican and Democrat). A group of experts collected by the Israeli liberal newspaper Haaretz deemed him to be the candidate likely to be least supportive of Israel.

The United Nations has been anti-Israel for at least 41 years. They will never change.

It is true that the UN has been anti-Israel and anti-American, given its communist ideology. But it is time for the UN to change or close its doors here.

Hhhmmm... I wonder why the Israelis waited so long. Hamas claimed the "cease fire" was over what... two weeks ago?

Shows an awful lot of restraint for someone supposedly engaging in "all out war".

"We have nothing against Gaza residents, but we are engaged in an all-out war against Hamas and its proxies," he [Ehud Barak] said.

Let me help you out with this Ehud, Hamas may have some 'proxies' of it's own, but Hamas itself is a proxy of your neighbors in friendly downtown Tehran, Iran.

You know, where that little bearded runt keeps talking about their 'peaceful' nuclear intentions and how Israel is going to be wiped from the face of the Earth?

Yeah, those guys.

"We went to war to deal a heavy blow to Hamas...

I kinda thought that "all out war" resulted in the destruction of the enemy, not just a "heavy blow." I hope this was a misstatement.
