As if Things Weren't Bad Enough, Russian Professor Predicts End of U.S.

MOSCOW -- For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument -- that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. -- very seriously. Now he's found an eager audience: Russian state media.

Igor Panarin In recent weeks, he's been interviewed as much as twice a day about his predictions. "It's a record," says Prof. Panarin. "But I think the attention is going to grow even stronger."

Prof. Panarin, 50 years old, is not a fringe figure. A former KGB analyst, he is dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry's academy for future diplomats. He is invited to Kremlin receptions, lectures students, publishes books, and appears in the media as an expert on U.S.-Russia relations.

The United States has endured various minor insurrections, one major civil war, one Great Depression and Jimmy Carter ... we’ll be just fine and be here long - still squabbling of course - after Russia and its KGB types are just bad memories.

To make matters worse most republicans think Bush was a good president.

There's an element of truth to that: most people who didn't vote for him think he's a bad one.

Wrong! IMHO, the leftist media would not be sending out the warning call to Americans.

You must have missed the last 5-6 years of Hier Bush and his recent nationalizations of US business’s using the same model the NAZI’s used.

Meet the new boss, he’s the same as the old boss. (the Who)

I think I already read this guy's theory and it has some serious flaws.

His theory sees the U.S. breaking up on a regional and racial basis. He basically sees the same type of dissolution seen during the failure of communist countries on an ethnic basis.

The major flaw in his theory is that the U.S. isn't a dictatorship with forced migration of one ethnicity into areas dominated by another. With the exception of Native Americans (a really small minority) you also don't have the long term history of conflict that you see in most of those communist nations.

His views are getting press because the old party communists in Russia want to believe that, since it happened to the USSR, it can happen to the USA.

West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee join the EU?

Texas part of Mexico?

Canada dominating the Northern States? Canada?

What a jackass.

I could very well see the USA falling apart in the next decade. We are stuck with debt we cannot possibly pay, there is a huge divide between parts of the country. Liberals on the coasts hate fly over country.

What have Bush’s lamentable policies got to do with my comments about a propagandizing Russian professor?

So why do you think the media is lining up at the door to interview this fool?

And what makes you think, STILL largely comfortable Americans are going to heed any sort of “warning call”?

“There’s an element of truth to that: most people who didn’t vote for him think he’s a bad one.”

Most cpnservatives who voted for him think he’s a bad president too.

But a lot of republicans, being leftists, support him because they agree with what he has done.

My favorite, he pardoned a drug dealer who was caught with 32 pounds of pure cocaine and let’s the two border agents rot in jail.

This shows me he is NOT even a good man as some try to claim.

I voted for this socialist twice, I will never cast my vote for the lesser of two evils.

I'll tell everyone like they say now South -
