The breakup of the U.S. (WorldnetDaily's Joseph Farah takes Russian prediction seriously)
WorldnetDaily ^ | Dec 30,2008 | Joseph Farah

Posted on 12/30/2008 4:52:31 PM PST by SeekAndFind

In 1990, few were predicting the breakup of the Soviet Union.

But it came – only a year later.

With 2009 set to begin in a few days, there is someone predicting the breakup of the United States – a year from now.

His name is Igor Panarin, a former KGB analyst and dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry's school for foreign diplomats – in other words, a serious fellow.

For him, it's nothing new. He's been making the same prediction for last 10 years. But, until recently, no one took him seriously. And then came the economic calamity that has rocked Americans and the rest of the world, too. Now, Panarin's predictions of an end of the United States, due to economic and moral collapse, is being taken seriously by many.

Panarin blames out-of-control mass immigration, economic decline and moral degradation for what he believes could be a civil war as early as next fall and a total collapse of the dollar. By June or July of 2010, he sees the U.S. breaking into six pieces.

Now, I'm not buying into Panarin's entire prediction. But I do think there's something to it.

I've been talking about this possibility more and more in recent years. I don't see how this house of cards we're building can possibly withstand the next significant windstorm. The political ties no longer bind. Only inertia and the threat of force hold us together.

The economic crisis is clearly visible to all – but all the wrong buttons are being pushed. In fact, the same people who got us into this mess are digging a deeper hole for all of us to climb out of.

The other two crises he points to have scarcely even been recognized by many people – out-of-control immigration and moral rot.

Thank goodness for that. Now that WND has "blessed" the prediction, you have 100% assurance that it won't happen.

When has WND ever been right about anything? They are the DEBKA of US internet news.

The lines are more clearly drawn than they’ve ever been. I don’t believe, as he suggests, that one or two states will actually stand up and attract such freedom-loving people.

No, it will be Americans all over....and that is the problem. We are interspersed among idiots, drooling Socialists, mindless morons who vote for an “Obama” while knowing nothing about him. It’s worse than disgusting.

No, something far more drastic must occur.

We’ve definitely got a mess but the prediction that we’ll be taken over by nations that can’t even handle themselves was hillarious.

I think there's something to it. We have nothing in common with liberals. If we wanted to found a conservative country - would we sign up for it? It depends on where that might be. There's nothing that ties together anymore as Americans.

But what if there were one place – one state – that attracted people from all over the United States to come live in freedom?

Well, I'd suggest California - for obvious reasons - but you fair weather conservatives have already up n' runnoft.

You said — “Thank goodness for that. Now that WND has “blessed” the prediction, you have 100% assurance that it won’t happen.”

Well, according to quite a few of our fellow FReepers, they can’t wait to begin the process. I’ve heard that many of them are going to take their states out of the United States.

The process appears to have begun, right here, on Free Republic...

Civilization/technology has dulled the survival instincts of most, if not all, Westerns societies and their people.

Most have gone over to the 'the government will take care of me' equation and don't want their day to day activities disrputed by people wailing about dated concepts like 'freedom' and 'liberty.'

There will be no breakups/splits in ANY Western country because the majority are happy in their chains.

Here’s his entire quote in context :

“That’s why I have postulated over the possibility of a secessionist movement of like-minded people. I’m not talking necessarily about the grouping of states, like the Confederacy of old. Frankly, I don’t see that happening. But what if there were one place – one state – that attracted people from all over the United States to come live in freedom?

Would you go?

I might.

If Panarin’s theory proves even partially right, we may wish we started such a movement much earlier. “

Well, I can see something like this happening, but it would take a while. First, patriots would “regroup” into states that follow the Founding Fathers’ principles. That would sequester the freedom-lovers. The other states would go completely socialist and would attract other socialists from the world. Eventually, the borders of the freedom-loving states would be overrun and conquered.

Fairly pessimistic, but those of us who love the country as the Founding Fathers envisioned and created it cannot allow the country to break apart, to divide states (like CA) into a north and south to isolate ourselves. All that does is corral us.

We need to take the country back. We need leaders who can vocalize the importance, the benefit, and the necessity of conservatism to everyone.

Well, the media has been spinning these absurd Obama/Lincoln comparisons, why not make them even more similar. The red states can split from the blue and engage in a whole new Civil War!

I’ll wager the new confederacy (red states) will fare better this time.

This Russian’s prediction may be valid (see “Civil War Two”)
but his depiction of the areas of breakup are simplistic.
He has not taken into consideration the areas of racial
concentration.

I tell you why his prediction of US break up is unbelievable. It seems like he’s not aware of local sentiment in the area he thinks will break up. California under China influence?! California will more likely go with Mexico than China. Alaska under Russia?! With Palin as Govenor. Not likely

Thank goodness for that. Now that WND has "blessed" the prediction, you have 100% assurance that it won't happen.

I don't have as strong an opinion of WND as you do. Never knew they had to "bless" predictions, for example.

The US does not exist in Revelations, that's a given. Taking from the working red states to give to the free-loading blue states (Wall Street bailout, Detroit bailout, NY state bailout) is what started the Civil War. If you know your history, you'll know this is true.

Maybe you want to take all the kookie pieces and put them in the big picture before you start posting whacko - pointing fingers stuff. It only underscores how close minded even the so-called open-minded can be. Whether you personally like/support/generally agree with the site/author or not.

There's a whole bunch of stuff out there. FR is the place to put the pieces together, as we've done in the past. Don't close doors before we even went through them.

I know a few states that should be kicked out of the union. Let them fend for themselves.

You would stand a far better chance of success that way but still, all states contribute to the whole. Also, even a peaceful breakup would end up in multiple wars. Or we could look at the inevitable weakness of all that would result.

As far as those who would like to secede. They talk about taking states and forming their own countries. What they don't mention are the large built in resistance made up of people in those states who wisely don't want to secede. What do they do with them? Do the "oppressed" become the oppressor?

It doesn't take a lot of thought to recognize the foolishness of such talk.

Actually, you have it backwards — the Blue states regularly support the Red States. New York, of instance, regularly gets back about 75 cents for every dollar it sends to Washington. Alabama gets back about $1.25.

The Tax Foundation has done a detailed study of the distribution of taxes.
