How many fall into minority and grievance politics defending Islamists in the West? The analogy would be Bolsheviks, Mensheviks, and anti-anti-communist socialists. All are the enemy.

Although the post and Dr. Sultan are speaking more generally (and perhaps diplomatically) it helps to identify specifics also, as you start to do rmlew. The problem with just saying that most Muslims are just ‘the silent majority’ is that there are a huge number of ‘modern Muslims’ who still somehow support the idea or are symphathetic - as you suggest to sharia law. How can these ideas co-exist - that is to say sharia law and modernity? If they cannot co-exist, then these sympathizers must be called out and confronted openly in the modern societies at least (how can Great Britain allow these sharia groups such carte blanche footholds, for instance?)

I don't think any Muslim can be trusted because of taqiyya. At best I think "trust but verify" is as far as I'm willing to go.
