TEL AVIV — Four days into Israel's bombing of Hamas targets in Gaza, one hit in particular -- Sunday night's attack on Islamic University.

Islamic University was more than just a learning institution; it also was a Hamas Qassam rocket manufacturing facility, an outpost, a center for weapons research and development and a Hamas storage facility.

"Because of what was happening there, it lost its civilian status immunity," Robbie Sabel, former legal adviser to Israel's Foreign Ministry, told FOX News.

"The Islamic University is a gathering place for young militants and it has been for many, many years," U.S. Army Major General Robert Scales (Ret.) told FOX News.

International security expert and FOX News contributor Wahid Phrares said leaving the university intact would lead to its graduates being recruited by Hamas into its various wings or international institutions.

"In a sense, the university or some of its departments, believe observers, play the role of a hidden Madrass," Phares said.

Kidnapped IDF soldier Cpl. Gilad Shalit was imprisoned at the university until about 3 months ago. Infighting amongst Hamas led to his relocation, likely to Lebanon.

The Islamic University is under complete Hamas control both faculty and students. There were not only regular academic studies but also military, explosives, and jihadist training.

Hamas mastermind Yahya Ayyash, in 1995, hid in the university for several months while being pursued by Israel for numerous suicide bombings in the 90's.

Israel needs to level Gaza, literally. Bulldoze the whole place into the Mediterranean Sea and be done with them. Let them live in tents and crap in holes in the sand.............

As I previously posted, Hamas was about to create a break-away Palestinian state of Gaza. Hamas had secured a stable funding base for it's reputed 20,000 members, both from Iran and tolls collected from the 250+ smuggling tunnels.

Hamas made a major blunder by refusing passage of Fatah pilgrims to Mecca recently. Remember Hamas is almost entirely Shia, this is a unspoken background to theis conflict and the reason why Sunni's are privately celebrating Israel's response to the constant rocket attacks.

I couldn’t agree more. I would have suggested a neutron bomb but that would also kill the animals who are completely innocent. Your recommendation is much better.

Well, 300+ Hamas are dead, there are 20,000 more to go. I agree, extermination of the Hamas leadership is the only solution.

This fight will never end and a two-state solution will never happen until Hamas is finished.

A two-state solution will never happen. Period. End of story. If it would have worked, Arafat would have accepted it way back when. They want ALL of Israel, not just the West Bank and Gaza, ALL OF IT! Why can’t anybody else see this? Or are they all cowards?........

How many Islamic Universities and schools are there in the USA and what goes on there?

Something to ponder.

Plus the Israelis also bombed a Mosque in Gaza.

The resulting explosion was quite spectacular, many times more than the ordnance employed would cause.

Mosques=Islamic Munitions Storage

That place was no more a “university” than most PA areas are “refugee camps”. Period.

Islamic University was more than just a learning institution; it also was a Hamas Qassam rocket manufacturing facility, an outpost, a center for weapons research and development and a Hamas storage facility.

And the MMM have the gall to keep repeating the asinine fiction that Israel is deliberately targeting civilians.

Any home, school, hotel, hospital, mosque that houses and warehouses weapons of war loses all protections of the rules of civilized war.

There is not now, or ever been any question about that, morally or legally.

Yasser would never have accepted the two state solution because he went against the grain of his little Nazi character. What Yasser was a MASTER at was dangling the POSSIBILITY that he would accept the two state solution at some point, if conditions were right, then he’d send a few homocide bombers into Israel, wait for reprisals, then claim that the Palis were the victims of Zionist aggression. The question SHOULD be: why did people repeatedly fall for THAT lie??

President Bush knew a two state solution was impossible, too. His idea was to get the Palis to accept, and then let them face international law when they went back to homicide as usual.

Go Bibi, keep getting that message out.

No it isn't. Hamas is sunni. Hezbollah is shi'ite. Both are backed by Iran which shows that necessity makes strange bedfellows.

Exactly.

The Palestinian's plight is self-induced and perpetuated by fellow Arabs.

No.
Blind deaf and dumb.
And it applies to both hammasses and the al-Fatah.

Even a 5-year-old, or any regular idiot can understand the significance of the "palestinian" flag!

Good riddance to bad ragheads. I only wish more "civilians" had been packed in when justice finally hit. Now it's time to clear the spot, turn it into a pig pasture, and put up a memorial plaque that says

"This is the future of Islam: Defeated, humiliated, fed to the pigs, and forgotten.".
