According to the Chinese calendar, 2008 was the Year of the Rat. But thats a completely inadequate monicker for the year of Eliot Spitzer, Jeremiah Wright, Chris Matthews, Rod Blagojevich, Somali pirates, the Obama boom and the McCain bust.
2008 wasnt the year of the Dark Knight. It was the year of the Joker: why so serious? What could be funnier than the possibility of Al Franken in the US Senate? Ok, ok. Banking Queen Barney Frank is, and maybe Sen. Caroline Kennedy would be.
And if those images arent bizarre enough for you, how about the facts that -- for a while at least -- the French President was speaking as if he liked us, and his nation managed to go a whole year without surrendering to anybody?
Some Iraqi reporter tossed his shoes at W and the Arab world is treating him like a big celebrity. Cmon, you guys. That punk isnt a great celebrity: take that from a nation that just elected one president. No, we didnt elect Paris Hilton. We did much worse than that.
Most importantly, 2008 was the Year of the RINO. Conservatives went from early February through November 4th with a low-grade headache and acid indigestion, and not even Dr. House could have diagnosed the cause. It wasnt until November 5, when we recovered suddenly, that we knew.

If 2008 was the Year of the RINO, were going to make 2009 the Year of the RINO hunter.

Let’s start with McCain. Snowe, Collins, Hagel, and keep going until only conservatives are left.
And that’s just the Senate for starters.
Next the House, then the Governors, then...

While you’re at it, get rid of Romney and Huckabee while you’re at it. Purge those two losers out of the party. One’s a smarmy plastic flip-flopping big-government liberal who’ll say anything to get a vote, and the other’s a creepy little Elmer Gantry wannabe who tries to mix that ol’ time religion and Karl Marx.
They both gotta go.

Unfortunately there are a lot of Rinos out there.
Me thinks they just don't have the gonads to admit it.

The "purge Rino's" thing started in earnest about four years ago and Pelosi and Reid have been leading Congress since. We need more of that??
Expecting all R's to behave the same is crazy. You're not going to get a pure conservative elected in Maine.
IMHO... we need all the R's we can get, whether RINO's or not. Its all about who LEADS... the leaders set the legislative agenda, they have the power.
"It's about the leadership, stupid!"

We had a little fun with John Edwards and Sarah Palin last year. Moose (mousse) hunters. A definite role reversal.

Your post is in conflict with your tagline. Many RINOs are, in fact, Socialist fools. To one degree or another, I would agree... but you completely miss the point that Pelosi would no longer have her nasty little hands on legislative agenda if we had more R's than D's. Get it?

I think I get it...you're in favor of Socialist fools setting the legislative agenda as long as they're Republicans.

I think I get it...you're in favor of Socialist fools setting the legislative agenda as long as they're Republicans. Some "conservatives" believe that Socialism and authoritarian Big Government is okay, so long as it's run by big-R Republicans and advances their own vision of society.

I think I get it...you're in favor of Socialist fools setting the legislative agenda as long as they're Republicans. I'll take that bait.... so name a recent GOP leader in congress that was a socialist fool. Lets pick apart Newt Gingrich for starters... he was just another Stalin, eh?

Some "conservatives" believe that Socialism and authoritarian Big Government is okay, so long as it's run by big-R Republicans and advances their own vision of society. So how bad a socialist was Trent Lott or Newt Gingrich? Tell me... I want to hear this. Make a case that GOP leadership has been socialist. Just try it... it might be fun, or at least humorous.
I suppose its much better to continue to purge the R's, as you suggest, of less-than-perfect conservatives and continue letting Pelosi and Reid tinker with Fannie Mae, and the country at large, I suppose. Things have been so much better with their grimy little hands on the legislative agenda.. /sarcasm off
