Had it occurred to you that airline folks have gotten terribly paranoic about that sort of thing in recent years?
I know I'm super aware of such things when I travel by air, so they're probably moreso.
I’m also super aware. I claim no extraordinary courage (or stupidity ;) ) there.
However, I think I would trust the marshals and FBI if they said these folks were clear to travel after examining their persons, their carryons, and their checked luggage. And top that off with wives and kids.
