Ineligible Obama, Playing with Constitutional Fire
Right Side News ^ | January 2, 2009 | JB Williams

Posted on 01/02/2009 10:37:08 AM PST by PlainOleAmerican

Numerous legal challenges have been filed in an effort to force president-elect Barack Obama to validate his constitutional eligibility for the office he seeks and while it is true that suit after suit has been denied in the courts, it is also true that all of them have been denied on a technicality rather than on the merits of the case against Obama.

And although Obama could have ended the debate months ago by simply delivering a $10.00 certified copy of his official birth records to prove his constitutional edibility, he has instead chosen to spend nearly a million bucks in legal defense fees hoping to run out the clock and assume office before any of the legal challenges will be heard by the courts.

A few things are quite clear at this point

* Article II - Section I of the Constitution clearly limits those who can serve as Commander-in-Chief to "natural born citizens" of the United States, and for good reason

* The Hawaii certificate posted on Obama's web-site is insufficient and in question at best

* Obama's Kenyan relatives state that they attended his birth in Kenya

* Later, Obama was indeed a legal citizen of Indonesia, traveling under his Indonesian passport as recent as in his early twenties

* There is no known record of Obama changing his Indonesian citizenship back to American citizenship, and it wouldn't make him a "natural born citizen" even if he did

* None of this seems to matter to anyone of consequence...

On this basis, we are headed towards not one, but numerous constitutional crises.

How will an unconstitutional president rule?

Obama is going to be the next president, and I think debating his eligibility in 2009 is a big waste of time that should be spent organizing opposition to his policy agenda. IMO discussions of his birth certificate should be relegated to the “Smoky Backroom” section of Free Republic.

It shows just how little regard this “Constitutional Law ‘lecturer’” has for the document and the process of law. Way to uphold your lawyer’s oath, you loser. There is something very wrong with a man who won’t reveal his BC, his academic records, medical records, financial records, including foreign contributions. Such selfishness and self aggrandizement, he’ll fit right in with the people who’ve caused this country untold problems.

Brace yourselves.

As much as I dislike Arnold Schwarzenegger, it will be interesting to see the Dems whine that he isn’t a “natural born citizen” should Arnold try to run for president. Arnold has stated in the past he’d like to, but he was aware of the “natural born citizen” requirement.

As well as FR posters 2 and 4.

The reason the biggest issue in American political history is no issue at all is because too few have the constitutional respect to make an issue of it....

And that’s why America as we knew it is finished.

Some think they can defend their constitutional rights without first defending the constitution itself... They are in for a big surprise...

None of the people who are still trying to make an issue out of this would be satisfied by “a $10 certified copy of his official birth records”. That would just start whole new round of conspiracy tales, about the Hawaiian government providing false records because they want to “hush up” the “truth” about Obama’s birth. Any serious investigation of his eligibility needed to be conducted and concluded before Election Day — after that, it became a moot point for anyone who cares about the political and economic stability of the United States.

At this point, I don’t care where Obama was born, and I’m not putting any stock in stories told by some elderly relatives in Kenya. Plenty of his Kenyan relatives could be bought off for $50 bucks (and threatened with death if they change their story when someobody else offers them another $50), and plenty of enemies of the United States are eager to destabilize our nation by promoting a “constitutional crisis” and creating uncertainty about who the President is. Frankly, I think the people who are still pushing this issue are the proverbial “useful idiots”, unwittingly serving to aid enemies of the United States.

I’m pretty sick of the whole story, but why does Obamer NOT produce evidence and shut everyone up? Why spend a million dollars on fighting the legal challenges?

It’s the incremental steps the Socialists have used that have gotten us where we are today. Just tax the richest 1%, subsistence pensions for the poor who have no retirement income, Democrats pushing for voting rights to be restored to felons, fighting voter ID laws.

After this, there will be no objections in the future to anyone of any nationality or allegiance running for the office of the presidency of the United States of America.

So you believe him to be a “natural born citizen” And if so, what evidence exists to convince you that is the case?

I strongly disagree. If pressing the issue of Obama’s eligibility to be President were based on nothing but dread of the prospect of “President Obama”, I'd say conservatives should knock it off. However, there are valid, unanswered questions about whether Obama is eligible — based on the Constitution — to serve as President. These issues should be pressed by everyone who cares about our Constitution for as many months or years as it takes to resolve them.

This train has left the station. There is NO way this is going to get any traction. Just as the "constitutional crisis" of a sitting president's complicity in a murder, lying under oath, obstructing justice, abusing the power of his office and tampering with witnesses was swept away with the broom of political expediency, this issue too will die a quiet death.

And his known Indonesian citizenship?

Anyone willing to accept Obama as in any way legitimate, is an enemy of this state.

Then, there is no reason for him not to produce the document.

Auto workers. Now they deserve $75.00 an hour to make cars nobody can afford. I mean anyone deserves that just for tightening nuts up on a car because that's all they do. And why not give Studebaker a bailout there starting back up. Why stop there give The Arena Football League some money. At least i could watch the them on Sunday if I wanted, Not that I would want to.

It’s worse than a “waste of time”. I think it’s part of deliberate plan being orchestrated by enemies of the United States and/or enemies of conservatives/Republicans. The amount of attention being paid on FR to this and similar distractions (e.g. Michelle’s inactive law license) is alarming, and seriously pulling attention away from strategies to oppose socialist expansion plans under the Obama administration, and to prepare strong Republican candidates for House, Senate, and Presidential races in the near future. You can be sure the al Qaeda crowd cheers every time they see this “issue” being resurrected.
