Israel has confirmed the first death of a soldier in its offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The army says the soldier was killed by mortar fire earlier today in northern Gaza.
The confirmation comes as explosions continue to pound the Strip as Israeli forces push further into the Hamas-run territory after launching a ground assault overnight.

I noted that, in this morning’s letters to the editor, the anti-Israel crowd is in full song. Israel needs to act now, before the Muslim gets in the White House.

IDF should have spent another week from the air and via howitzer.
It’s hard to say if there was another week.
As much as i am enjoying watching the Israelis finally move to root this out, and enjoying watching the skill of their military. Last night, i was struck by the thought that some israeli families are sure to have this loss strike them.
So very, very sad,,, please pray for them.
