The Freedom of Choice Act (making Roe vs. Wade Federal law) can be stopped. Does the GOP have the gonads to do whatever it takes to stop it?Sorry to say, I don't see it being filibustered. I can think of one pro-life Dem (Casey). How many pro-abort pubbies are there? Snowe, Collins, Specter...
On paper, there are three pro-life Democrat senators: Casey (PA), Pryor (AR), and Nelson (NE). Byrd (WV) has a mixed record on abortion but sometimes opposes federalizing social issues best left to the states. I think Nelson is truly independent and pro-life and would filibuster. Pryor is iffy, and subject to arm twisting by the leadership. Casey has the family heritage but he's been disappointing and has often capitulated on pro-life issues when pressured by the party bosses.
The bill might be stopped in the House. There are quite a few pro-life Dems there, and also a lot of Dems from marginal districts with mixed records on abortion.
