And of course the oblivious asshat in the cop car doesn't come to the conclusion that he's a major safety threat to everyone on the road and should drive away.

It was definitely a safety hazard. But even if the drivers avoided any collisions, it was a major inconvenience. Total waste of time, gasoline, and brake pads--and if you drive an automatic, think of all the heat generated in the torque converter shortening fluid life and possibly transmission life. For absolutely no reason.

When you go through such an inconvenience, it's really hard not to simply hate cops. Would have loved to see a traffic helicopter report on it. Avoid New Jersey if you can!

I find what is really useful in avoiding a yellow or running a red light are those new caution lights for the crosswalk that count down in seconds toward the light's change. This helps a lot in deciding whether to go through before it turns yellow. Of course, this doesn't help city coffers even though more widespread installation would probably reduce accidents.
