Attackers rammed a burning car into a synagogue in the southern French city of Toulouse, officials have said. The car, packed with a petrol bomb, was set alight and then pushed into the synagogue door by a second car. The building caught fire but a local rabbi and about 12 people caught inside escaped unharmed after Monday's attack.
It came as the French defence minister met Jewish and Muslim community leaders to stress the Middle East conflict should not lead to violence in France. Police said they were investigating the attack and had not made any arrests. Molotov cocktails Damage to the synagogue building was limited to a blackened door, a regional official said, adding that no-one was injured even though a rabbi was inside overseeing an adult learning course. Anne-Gaelle Baudouin said police called to the scene found remnants of a Molotov cocktail in the burned-out car and found another car nearby containing three more unused petrol bombs.
Correspondents say it is not clear whether the incident reflects frustration in France as violence in the Middle East escalates. Anti-Semitic violence in France - which has large Jewish and Muslim communities - rose sharply in 2002 when Israel launched large-scale military operations in the West Bank. Large number of French Jews chose to emigrate to Israel in the wake of attacks on Jewish people or buildings. The National Bureau for Vigilance against Anti-Semitism, a Jewish group, condemned the latest attack.

Well, jewish victims of muslim violence are easier to “explain” than french. French victims are the result of colonialism like Algeria (which is a 50 year old argument) and economic problems, whereas Isreael is always readily available for the liberal elites as the cause of anti-semitic violence by muslims.

I think this is where I kick back with a bowl of popcorn and a bag of chips and watch as the culturally superior Old French acquiesce to the religiously superior New French (?) as they turn that “Awful Tower” into “Mosque d’Paris Minaret #1.”
A scuffle here, a brick through a window there; torch a synagogue today, a cathedral tomorrow, a church the day after; urban renewal and the new cultural chic comes to Old World Europe. It is not like there is any sort of precedent or pattern that we are witnessing--again--is there? (/s) God help us all.

So, wait, you are telling me you actuallly believe that movies depict reality? Are you sure you don't want to reconsider this statement?
If the French are so anti-semite, how come only 17% of the French Jews were deported during WWII, whereas more than 80% of the Jews in neighboring Belgium ended up in camps? Or 90% of the Polish Jews? France was defeated and invaded, all the French had to do was look the other way... But they didn't. They hid Jews, counterfeited papers, and generally helped them evade the Nazis. So today, France has the highest percentage of Jews per inhabitants out of Israel.
And yet for all these efforts, most of the 600.000 Jews in France call France antisemite.
That's in effect teaching us a lesson. Next time the Jews are in trouble, we'll remember the ingratitude.
And considering the pro-Islamic policy in Europe, trouble is coming quickly.
