The $5.00 and $1.00 are for change machines. If the bill gets rejected there is no witness to convict you. If it works you pick up 99% profit. Then head to the grocery store with a change counting machine. No interaction with other humans at any point. A group of teenagers hit the change machines at the rest stops along interstate 94. IIRC the cleared over 10 grand in one weekend. Fortunately they were so stupid as to try to hit the exact same rest stops again a week later, where of course the Secret Service was waiting for them.

I often thought that a good little side "charity" for a counterfeiting operation would involve the mass production of $1 bills, and "distribution" through donations to homeless people, street bums, etc.
