You're correct Mitch, as an entity for enforcing legislation, and protecting people, the UN is a Liberal talking shop, full of Communists, but the Political precedence of what they're saying although is not relevant at this immediate point, it may be sometime in the near future.

The Eurocrats are completely intertwined with the UN, and pretty much what they babble on about in the Security Council is pretty much their perspective is on World Political issues, not just immediate crises.

Historically, I've pretty much also ignored the ineffective ramblings of the UN, due to the overriding common sense of the US and their veto's that they've consistently used to keep the UN in check. With your new messiah coming in a few days, personally, I feel it's distinctly possible that what these Communists are saying in there, will take on new meaning on the World stage.

Talking to terrorists, common peace plans etc, are all policies of the UN, Obama seems to be ready to adopt them all. When he does, the counterbalance that's kept the UN in check for so long will be gone, these Communists could become the World Police almost overnight.
Can you imagine what would happen then?
Last night, the ONLY counterbalance to the Communists was the abstain vote from Condoleeza Rice, the speech she gave after the resolution was the only thing that touched on the origin and cause of the current war in Gaza.
If the UN had it's way, there'd be war crimes raised against Israel, I absolutely believe that.

Here's an irony, 'please don't dismiss these people for exactly what they are on the surface', yes they are a group of 'Ultra Liberal, Pure Communist Bureaucrats', but that's what makes them so dangerous, never more so than after January the 20th.

There's been a lot of speculation around here of late as to wether the US would abandon Israel.I suppose walking in lock step with the UN would be pretty much the same thing.
